Personally I really enjoyed it, but then I'm a sucker for dumb continuity-fests, so that's hardly surprising.
I even enjoyed Missy, who I couldn't stand on her first appearance, so I guess the script must have done something right!
It's nice that all the main cast seem to have relaxed into their roles by this point.
This must be the first time in ages I'm waiting eagerly for next week's resolution!

I was gripped from beginning to end, Capaldi was excellent especially his Doctor channelling Slash, Davros was calculating & sinister & the scenes between him & the Doctor were tension filled.
Hey I'm even warming to Missy.

I liked it for the most part, the early scenes with the tank and guitar were embarrassing though. By the end of the episode I'd almost forgiven such nonsense, looking forward to the conclusion.

Enjoyed: Missy (Michelle Gomez was wonderful) and I loved her interaction with Clara. I also really liked the Skaro reveal. This seems to be the 12th Doctor's Genesis.
Didn't Enjoy: The Doctor doing anachronistic stuff in the historical setting was just silly and I am not sure what I feel about the Doctor showing up in Davros past.

Really very much enjoyed it, like that it's 2 episodes, was absorbed into the story and wasn't thinking about it for 98% of the time, the ONLY thing that bugged me as I watched it, was they Doctor is about to die again, it just seems a very overused theme. But otherwise really great.

Didn't Enjoy: The Doctor doing anachronistic stuff in the historical setting was just silly and I am not sure what I feel about the Doctor showing up in Davros past. I actually feel the same way about the stuff at the beginning. It was one of those self-serving moments that happens in a lot of Moffat's episodes that's fun to see at the moment but doesn't hold up when you start to think even superficially about it. But all in all I loved it. It was the first time since Capaldi became The Doctor that every thing seemed to gel for me. The characters worked well together and the story just flowed well.

Really liked Missy, thought the character was played excellently. Liked the Skaro twist and thought Davros looked and sounded good.
Didn't like the early scenes with the Dr - the tank and the guitar just didn't sit right with me tbh.
Am looking forward to the next episode to see how things pan out

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I quite liked the tank: the idea of the Doctor realising that he's going to die and then going all-out in an effort to enjoy himself in the process is great. That he'd bring a tank to an axe fight is hilarious. I didn't enjoy him getting on his knees and imploring Davros to save people: that was more out of character, IMNSHO. I felt there was a lot of padding in the last third or so: the deal with "invisible Skaro" and Missy and Clara working out where they are was a bit silly.
I loved the idea of Missy having complete contempt for Clara, and viewing her as "the puppy" was a totally Master-y moment for me. Popping her head out of the projection was a bit juvenile and kids-cartoon-y. Sarff was great. Clara as teacher on-loan to UNIT was great but overplayed (as a fellow educator, I can totally see this happening, though).
On the whole I enjoyed it: I mentioned on Facebook that I'd had a nerdgasm in the opening scene when the soldier drew out his bow and arrow to shoot the plane. But there was quite a bit that felt like padding or self-indulgence. Missy went from Season 2 Spike to Season 5 Spike (Buffy, not Press Gang) in about 15 minutes (although I did like her fondling the Dalek bumps) which completely negated the menace she'd built up in the sniper scene.

I don't get why the Skaro reveal was a big deal? Don't get me wrong, I understand it's the home planet of the Daleks. Why were they hiding the planet? Did I miss something? Was it destroyed at some point? I guess I thought Davros was scary enough...

I loved it! The tank/guitar thing was a wee bit silly but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of this episode. A very good episode to start the new season. Will be interesting to see how this story concludes... I'm looking forward to it.

For me the interplay between Clara and Missy was the best thing about Part one. And Missy's list about her friendship with the Doctor was brilliant. The one out of them i think wasnt true was Stealing the Moon. I like the thought of the Doctor stealing the Presidents wife and her being Susan's Grandmother . The Clositer Wars just being the rivalries between people at the Academy and the Doctor being a little girl just being about the Doctor saying something was dangerous or scary and Koschei chiding him with "Stop being such a girl" Bors being revealed as a Roboman was absolutely pointless mind

So, now we've got a tank and a guitar lying around in 11th century England? Isn't that usually a pretty bit no-no? Perhaps the Daleks cleaned that up, since they know a thing or two about time these days. They wouldn't want their prior 22nd century invasion to be rewritten because the humans turned out to be way more advanced than they were in the original timeline.
I dunno. Not to rain on the parade, but I didn't feel strongly about this one. Somewhere around 5/10. As someone said elsewhere, the opener seemed more like a series of sketches rather than a coherent whole.
I'm tired of "the Doctor is going to face his doom." He's not. We know there's a full season of recorded episodes waiting to air.
Missy was a bit better, but I just don't like the WACKY! Hoping the whole point is that she's mad but north by northwest.
