I moved the thread for you . I wouldn't have thought it would affect BF's licence as that is for audio plays and not anything else (as far as we know). Cheers Tony

I can't imagine it would affect anything, although it's defiently a lucky break for Big Finish that they secured the rights before Ridley Scott expressed intrest.

Maybe they knew it was coming, and that is why it's so expensive.

I don't think it'll affect the licencing. The Dark Shadows licence wasn't affected by the 2012 movie (some might say travesty), although Big Finish had been producing the audios for just over five years at that point, and the audios have achieved more longevity than the movie itself.

We can't know without official comment can we? I mean, yeah, new incarnations on screen didn't affect Dark Shadows but certainly DID affect The Tomorrow People. The same concerns from ITV meant that Nick only ended up getting The Prisoner after being refused some Gerry Anderson's like Thunderbirds, which - coincidence? - is now on tv again.
Importantly - there have been rumours about Prisoner films for decades now. Simon West and Russell Crowwe, Guy Pearce, Chris Nolan...untill this rumour becomes more concrete, I wouldn't worry.

It was, I guess when he had only Memento as a relatively small hit.

I'd love to have him come back and try and do it, he'd get the budget, and he does have a trippy sense of it. Get Jonathan to help script it, and I'd have my ticket bought already.

Prisoner needs to be episodic A movie doesn't work
Unless you mean... The trumanshow.
It wouldn't have things about... Education and wisdom or self worth or...
Nice idea but... No

Worth remembering McGoohan himself spent much of the 90s trying to get a film off the ground so if he, the father of the piece, thought it could be done, I don't see why it couldn't work.
Personally after Ex Machina, I say give it to Alex Garland if anyone has to do it.

Ridley Scott's in his blooming 70's
How many more movies can he make, he is not exactly the speedyist of directors
Stick to repairing the damage done to alien with the Prometheus sequels and stop connecting yourself to dozens of movies you will not get chance to make
What happened to blade runner 2 you were defiantly doing 3 years ago?

I'm not quite sure whwere you're getting that from - he's made 9 films in the last 10 years, I'd call that pretty speedy! Especially since they'e mostly been massive, CGI heavy spectacle films, I'd say he's one of the most prolific directors going in Hollywood.
He's not directing Blade Runner 2 anyway, Denis Villeneuve is. And it's a go-er, Ryan Gosling only spoke about how much he's looking forwaard to working with Denis, Ridley, Harrison Ford and Roger Deakins last week.

Please no Prisoner movie, they just never work.
The original was good barring the nigh high impossible to explain ending but the reboot series lacked heart, so i don't think a movie would work either.

As long as its better than the remake, I wouldn't mind a Prisoner movie.
