I hope the “standard” is available on the reverse of the special edition!
That SE cover is no where need as much fun.
As regards the stories, I don’t know what I was expecting, but based on the initial write up I wasn’t expecting the Fourth Doctor in the first story.

I was immediately drawn to the standard edition cover, but the LE commaneds the attention too. Very clever use made of the diamond in the imagery.

Both covers are great, premise is intriguing and it’s a crossover featuring my favourites. I’m glad to get a Four & Sarah story, am curious about the timeline placements for them, and I just love Kate & Osgood. Hound’s Monk can be fantastic too; I hope this is the case here.
I wonder if the initial Doctor caught up in the Time War will be the War Doctor? Jonathon Carley hasn’t been listed, but I guess that’s because he won’t be leading a story. There’s no reason he can’t be the catalyst for the series.

I'm expecting some kind of weirdness since they have to include post-war Doctors, too. And how Warner's Doctor will fit into this, who knows, as he shouldn't be affected by anything that happens to the "prime" Doctors.

I guess the most obvious answer would be that he'll cross paths with at least one of the Doctors along the way, but as I hadn't even guessed the Fourth would be first out of the gate, let alone crossing paths with modern day UNIT...frankly I'm not going to even try and figure out which one!

Thanks for reminding me. I'd forgotten that! 😊

Just to be contrary… I like the diamond effect cover.

“One of the joys of this anniversary release is being able to savour things that could otherwise never happen – like the Fourth Doctor meeting Kate Stewart and Osgood, or his being reunited with Sarah Jane Smith”
Side eyes the last few years of relentless crossovers…I don’t think this is true anymore.
Anyway this sounds like a big old mishmash, but there’s potential with the characters here.

I love the idea of past Doctors being able to reflect on their life and death.
Will 4 have thoughts on abandoning Sarah Jane or Romana's time as president.
5 reflecting on Androzani and what 6 did to Peri immediately after.
6 reflecting on turning into Sylvester McCoy in wig immediately before dying.
7 reflecting on the master chess player walking out of his TARDIS into a gangland shooting.
8 brooding on the Time War and what he became after regenerating on Kaan.

Yeah, it's a cool way of bringing back the old Doctors in a "new" form -- presumably they'll retain all the memories of whatever incarnation ends up falling apart (I can't remember if this was specified yet). Which would presumably mean, for example, that the 8th Doctor is gonna learn about what what the War Doctor did, or thought he did, to end the war.
Well, assuming it's not McGann's Doctor who gets hit by this weapon thing.

I'm really excited for these stories, returning Doctor and multi Doctor Adventures have a lot of potential, if we can move beyond general bickering and putting them all together just for the sake of it.
The movie Looper has a cool premise that could work well with two Doctors, in that film a young protagonist battles against his 55 year old self. A Doctor Who story where perhaps the 3rd Doctor has to stop the Seventh Doctor from going too far. Other combinations could work just as well.

I'm really excited for these stories, returning Doctor and multi Doctor Adventures have a lot of potential, if we can move beyond general bickering and putting them all together just for the sake of it. There are simply too many Doctors now for that kind of multi-Doctor story to work any more -- there's no room for anything but some bickering, and even then not much bickering because there are too many different combos. What made The Legacy of Time so good is that it really on,y tried to do that for a bit at the very end -- a big fanservicey multi-Doctor finale. But the meat of that story was found in all the preceding bits, nice self-contained (more or less) stories that each focused on a small handful of characters. I think it is ideal that Big Finish is taking that same idea and really running with it for Once and Future.
I'll always love the big multi-Doctor team-ups, but to be fully honest, I don't think they reall work -- I don't think they can work -- with more than three Doctors. So my great big hope is that Big Finish simply expands the Out of Time Range to feature more multi-Doctor team-ups (just make it "the multi-Doctor range") so we can still have 'em, with 2-3 Docs at a time, and then do more imaginative, ambitious stories for the inevitable big blowout anniversaries. I can see it, or hear it, already: - 10th Doctor: "Hello, I'm the--"
- 6th Doctor: "Oh, don't bother. I already know who you are."
- 10th Doctor: "Yeah, thought you might."
- 6th Doctor: "The Valeyard!"
- 10th Doctor: "Sorry, what?"
EDIT: Or, perhaps, transform it to Capaldi and Baker simply by changing the "Yeah," to a "Yes, I."

Yes, I much prefer the idea of no more than 3 Doctors together at any time, I adore a bit of fan service but there comes a point where every possible bit of dialogue has already been said.
With time and care, there are still plenty of interesting angles for encounters between 2 Doctors. The Doctor is a renegade, under the right circumstances, he's bound to cross his own time line occasionally.

I'd love to see a story with two different Doctors working against each other, not because they've been manipulating or are working from incomplete information, but just because... they're different people with different priorities and they fundamentally disagree with what they need to do and how they need to do it.
Like imagine a LIVE34 scenario where the 7th Doctor has this big, elaborate plan going on to take down some fascist regime, and then halfway through the 8th Doctor pops up.
