I can get behind this more now the information is proved. It's really good to get the layout of what merch covers what period and it also seems that they're releasing the whole thing in order; that's two of my quibbles with Time Lord Victorious covered. I think this should've been debuted alongside the introductory video - it's something for the fans to buy into and understand which Doctors are involved, etc. Seems like Two, Nine & Twelve at the minimum and wouldn't be surprised if the final hour that's released to the social channels ends up having Fourteen in; it'd tie-in with Tennant recording promotional material last month.

Even more messy and cost heavy then TLV was, seemingly needing Books and Games for over half the story

Even more messy and cost heavy then TLV was, seemingly needing Books and Games for over half the story Regards mark687 Not sure that's true. It's laid out what hours each story takes up and much of it is condensed into singular items of merch; the book and two games take up a quarter of the whole initiative. Comics - 8 hours across two items; DWM 4 & Titan 4 Audio - 8 hours across two items; BBC 4 & Big Finish 4 who are by far the dearest! Book - 4 hours across one novel Game - 2 hours across two stories; free to play Remaining two hours are the opening and closing elements released to social channels. The cost of Time Fracture & A Dalek Awakens alone is dearer than the whole of Doom's Day, which I estimate to be about £84 at worst, assuming you buy everything at full price and choose the graphic novel and CD options for Titan & Big Finish, respectively. Feels like a lesson learning exercise to me. Still room for improvement, mind, but hard to judge until we have the actual stories released and consumed.

I think I’ll see how the DWM contribution turns out and then decide whether or not to really get into this one. For me it’s just not as instant a hook as TLV was, though it is definitely a lot more coherent a concept.

Interesting opener. It leaves a lot unsaid (even the identity of the Doctor here) and keeps the somewhat light tone which teaser had.

I’d assume it’s Twelve given the grumpy old man label, dialogue, albeit brief, and that he appears in Four to Doom’s Day. I did like the way the story set up the premise nicely and tells us more about the framing device. Essentially we can expect individual adventures of sorts from the stories that span multiple hours, even if they, and the wider project, may tell bigger stories.

As short-stories go, that was perfectly fine, I guess? Buuuut, was I the only one kind-of expecting it to be along the lines of a short-film (or something of the sort)?
Whilst I did enjoy this ok, I don't know if I am strictly in a hurry to pre-order the book or BBC Audio audio quite yet, and will probably leave it until a little bit closer to release/after this month's DWM comes out. (I've pre-ordered the two Titan issues, and will save the Big Finish until the cast list's announced).

Yes I must say I was expecting a video to launch and close it off, given that was the format the initial announcement took and they didn’t make mention of it on the website announcing the products last week.
The short stories on the website are nice, but they do have a tendency to get hidden away very quickly after immediate announcement. It’s why I’m glad the lockdown stories were collated into a book.

Regards mark687 See, I wouldn’t mind if they stuck to that tone throughout the entire event. Considering how unconvincing Doom seemed in her debut trailer, it would actually serve the character well I think. Trouble is, I’m not sure they will stick to said tone.

It’s odd that “trying to find and kill the Doctor… any Doctor” is seen as a problem given that the third was stuck on earth for the best part of half a decade and twelve spent decades in the same place and neither of them were being circumspect …

No tech worked on Trenzalore though, so Doom might not want to tackle him there.

As a whole, I enjoyed the DWM 'special' enough, but I do feel it does suffer from the same problem that the TLV's 'Monstrous Beauty' trio did, in that (whilst yes, it is double the normal length) the 16page limit does cause the stories to feel a little bit 'rushed' (for the want of a better word)? I liked the three main stories ok, but they could have maybe benefited from a little bit longer to develop everything & to give it some 'breathing space' instead of rushing through the stories... That said though? {Spoiler} I did at least like the Sixth Doctor's guest appearance in the second story, and Jo's cameo in the fourth was sweet.

I thought the DWM supplement was very poor. A few years ago Titan did a regeneration comic for 13 that told one- or two-page stories for each Doctor; this doesn't remotely compare.
Also, 1) HOW ON EARTH can you {Spoiler} do a story with Autons called "The Plastic Population" and NOT feature Yaz?!
2) Conversely, the main comic strip did something *great* this month. {Spoiler} The first page is a pastiche of the TV21 comics

Yeah, the DWM effort is very slight. I understand the cost of creating comics, but 16 pages telling four hours just doesn’t work; Titan will be tackling the same next month with quadruple the page count. And DWM’s own Liberation of the Daleks is telling one hour across 13 issues currently.
If they’d gone for two stories, or one mixed with some prose instalments it would’ve worked much better, I think. Shame because each of the stories are great concepts, and the artwork is gorgeous, they’re just so brief as to be incomprehensible.
Having said that, in the grand scheme of the overall project telling a bigger story covering an entire day, I think some slighter stories are fine. It’s just those comprising of one licencee’s output is a bit off.
