...
EDIT
I liked it, its probably the nearest BF have been to a BBC Missing Stories soundtrack
The usual 2nd Doctor/Cyberman routine which is never a bad thing IMO.
Regards
mark687 I'm always a sucker for a good Cybermen story, and this was a good one (much better than Nick's last story "Krelos"). I've generally enjoyed the Second Doctor EAs but was trying to think what's different about this particular one and you are spot on Mark, it's just like listening to one of the BBC soundtracks (with linking narration). The interplay between Jamie and the Doctor was great (hard to believe that Frazer plays both parts) and the incidental music really captures the era. Roll on Series 3 ... Cheers Tony

Having listened to all of the lost Second Doctor episodes rather than watching telesnaps, I completely agree that this sounded very authentic.
As for how much I liked it, it was good but The Yes Men and The Foresaken passed it for me. The Black Hole was fun, too, but I think all my EU continuity sadness overtook me too much. Have to listen again to that one I think.

I think I enjoyed this as much as any of the Second Doctor Early Adventures to date (although I don't have The Forsaken yet). This story might have been a little less adventurous in ways, but I think all of them have been very, very good at being just what they're intended to be. Frazer and Wendy were both great in this, too, I thought.

I didn't like it that much *because* it was too much like a lost story from the Second Doctor era, and I prefer it when the audios push the envelope a bit more and try new stuff.

I don't know why, but I didn't enjoy this story as much as I had hoped. It certainly wasn't bad (how can giant slugs attacking Cybermen not be entertaining?), but I feel like it could have somehow been better.

I'm half way through and really not gripped.
I got confused too. Are the slugs part cyber-tized?
Will battle on.

I enjoy all 2nd Doctor stories to an extent (except possibly Prison in Space) but this was my least favorite of the 4 Early Adventures for 2. It was too steeped in nostalgia for me.
Please no more 2nd Doctor/Cybermen stories unless it's something entirely new like Legend of the Cybermen (now that is the type of Cybermen story I love)
I love the 2nd Doctor and I love the Cybermen but if you aren't going to anything new with it then I don't see the point.
I did enjoy hearing Jamie, Zoe, & Two though. Always love them.

I'm with you Kim. It felt like Series 6, no doubt about that but it didn't have enough plot or anything particularly memorable to make it stand out.
I'm sad about that because I feel like Nick could really use a cracking Who story that reminds people of his talent.
Still, this season gave us The Black Hole which I think is the first really great Early Adventure so I've been happy enough.

If I was going to rank this season for me personally it would be
1) Black Hole 2) The Yes Men 3) The Foresaken 4) The Isos Network
But overall I feel this was a stronger season than the first one. Adding Elliot Chapman as Ben was great. It was wonderful to get full cast series 4 stories. And Rufus Hound was my favorite guest role in Black Hole. I hope they bring him back.
Looking forward to hearing Jemma Powell as Barbara for series 3.

I listened to this last night & loved it from beginning to end.
This was a good ole fashioned Second Doctor vs Cyberman yarn, yeah the plot was the standard formula but sometimes that's all i want to hear & this is what i got.
I'd rate this a 8/10
I'd rate this series. The Black Hole The Isos Network The Foresaken The Yes Men

Having just finished The Isos Network I would rank this series as
The Black Hole The Yes Men The Isos Network The Forsaken.
I was quite disappointed in The Forsaken. They had Ben's father in it and did absolutely nothing with the relationship between him and Ben. I don't really get why they used him at all to be honest. I also thought that Frazer forgot to use his Second Doctor voice in some scenes. This really stood out as he is usually so good at it.
I would love to hear Rufus Hound back as well, he was extremely good in The Black Hole

I didnt find it pacey enough - way too much messing about to get to the plot. Very authentic, very season 6 but a tad dull.

The Isos Network was an interesting twist on the Cybermen stories. Loved the idea that giant (friendly!) slugs could defeat the Cybermen.
Apparently, as I mentioned in the "what are you listening to" thread, some folks who reviewed it on **** ****** thought it required a prior story, but I didn't think so. And I could figure out pretty quickly which TV episode preceded this story.
It was fairly entertaining overall.
