Oh you just have to love a story where the 7th Doctor (current employment,The Oncoming Storm) crosses braincells with Davros (I have had plenty of time to consider every eventuality) with back-up from equally cerebral Gallifreyans, and semi-opposition from the Daleks (The Dalek race must remain pure. We are already the Supreme Beings). Plus more understanding of the effects of a Time War on, well, everything, sort of. 5/5 More, please. Brain over brawn every time for me.

That was the first story in this series that felt like it actually related to the Once and Future premise, and the Doctor’s condition was integral to it.
Plus it was an interesting story in its own right, although I do feel that the chess match between the 7th Doctor and Davros has been done to death.
I am enjoying listening to a new Doctor Who story each month, so Once and Future has been a worthy investment for me.

Yes, I thought it quite intriguing that The Doctor won because of his degenerative condition. Does that provide a clue to overall arc? We'll find out later. Overall a good story. 9 minutes of music suite. Extended extras are 38 minutes in place of 14 minutes.

I get the feeling that the “afflicted Doctor” is War, there’s a militant bearing to the Doctor, he snaps “he doesn’t take order, he gives orders” and does not hesitate to kill the Dalek CPU. Other Doctors might hesitate, they might find the idea of a Gallifrey affected y Total War appalling, Veklinn snaps that they would not want his help normally (and Veklinn reslly does not like War, she sneers at eight’s anti-war stance but actively hates how War is doing things).

I have to agree that this is a great performance by Sylvester. And the others give good performances, too, especially Terry Molloy and Ken Bones. I was really happy hearing all of them together.
The story itself.... not really a fan, we had similar stories before and they had been done better. It was pretty clear from the start what was going to happen (and I am sure the Doctor knew how everything would play out from the start). I am, like others, also not really taken in by this "Doctor Devolving" plot device that is used. It just does not feel like an older Doctor in younger bodies. And then there are the Daleks. I am so sick and tired of Daleks.

Terry Malloy is always on fire as Davros. But I dunno, I didn't think much to the story.

When people talk about actors not being good at audio - it's a very different medium after all where you have to sell a lot more on just your vocals - Terry is the best example of the opposite. He has done radio drama for decades consistently and it shows. He just never - ever - lets the side down. He knows the audio realm inside out.
