Personally I hope Leela is a one off. I'd generally like War to stay away from past companions and be on his own (or have new ones). Paraphrasing Davey "Just because they can, doesn't mean they should" Cheers Tony I really wouldn't be surprised if Cardiff had said no to Romana in the Time War.

I have a feeling Cardiff might have their own plans for Romana (or at least might want to have it left for themselves, for use in the future).

If they use Romana, it should be Trey.

I was hoping for Leela and/or Romana to show up in one of these boxsets, so I'm ecstatic at this news! I can't wait to see how War and Leela work together.

If they use Ken Bones, perhaps it'll be Ollistra who regenerates into him Romana regenerated into Ollistra? See, my mad theory is that The General is Romana - they're snaky and snarky, they trust the Doctor but are infuriated by him, the male General is their only male body.

If they use Romana, it should be Trey. Louise Brooks or bust!

Calling it now - whatever happens to Leela, it'll lead to "No More" (in addition to Cinder). It has to get personal for him to reach the no more moment, right? I've been saying I think the 8th Doctor Time War stories were going to be Doctor Who's Hamlet, because he eventually driven to commit suicide, which means everything probably has to end badly. I hope it isn't a similar arc for War. Whatever they do, it'll be exciting. Very good work so far.

It's almost sad that this time next month we'll be half way done with The War Doctor series. I really hope for more, even though this is building to his end, it would be nice to get earlier stories.

Big Finish are lucky enough to get John Hurt for four box sets. I wouldn't blame him for deciding 12 audio dramas is enough and to move onto something else.

BF kept this a secret for a year and for all we know everyone is happy with everyone else and they already have a encore planned. Has anyone come out and said all we are getting are these twelve audios? If they have, I've not seen it reported anywhere.

I recall John Hurt being quite happy to keep doing the audios, in that intro podcast. It's easy work for him, a day or two in a booth. Pay's probably well enough, and get to wear your jammies. Win Win as far as I can tell.

Am I the only one not that excited by Leela and War? Leela belongs to a select group of companions (with Nyssa and Ace) who are seriously overused by BF. I have nothing against the characters or the actresses ... but you can have too much of a good thing. More variety would be nice. As an aside, could it be one of the reasons Six is such a popular audio Doctor is because he has by far the greatest variety of copanions?
In the case of Leela, it is clear from what has been said in interivews etc that Louise Jameson has a a very strong relationship with a lot of the folks at BF, and we can see that reflected in the number of times Leela pops up, not to mention Louise's writing and directing for BF. I have to wonder if that relationship is swaying BF's professional judgement as to how much Leela we really need.
This is not intended as a criticism of Louise Jameson, but I for one feel a bit Leela-ed out (not to mention Nyssa-ed out and Ace-d out) and would prefer more variety in companions.
Having said all that I will still be buying War Dr 4 and I'm sure I will enjoy it. Wearing my continuity geek hat, I hope Leela's fate will tie in with her first CC appearance in The Catalyst

I would agree if this were a Leela and Four release or Ace and Seven or Nyssa and Five. But is a story that's never been told. I'd much rather see Leela and Ace in Gallifrey. Something new rather than sliding more and more stories into gaps. And ultimately they will keep using these actresses and characters. They all have good working relationships with BF - Louise perhaps the most of all - so they've got to find some creative ways to justify their casting.
