Sorry that Lauren Cornelius won't be travelling with the Doctor this time around, but it will be interesting to hear Vicky again. Jonathan Morris is either very good indeed, or ... not at all, so I'm optimistic. Yep, all in all - looking forward to this. And it seems to be a very welcome six-parter!

Nice to have Maureen back but otherwise this doesn’t really appeal to me in the slightest. The “companion reunites with the Doctor decades later” has been done to death by BF at this point and well, Daleks again…

The trio of Briggs, Morris & Noonan isn’t something that fills me with confidence, frankly. And I don’t think BF have a great track record of bringing back companions older for this to balance that negativity out.
To be honest the announcement just makes me wish the range was David Bradley with the original companions. I don’t think Noonan is great and the sets aren’t out frequent enough to warrant going to the effort of recasting Dodo to then omit her. It all feels neither here nor there, which is a shame.

I'm looking forward to this one. I think Noonan is great, The Miniaturisist was outstanding.
I wrote a Big Finish wish list a couple of years ago and on that list was a 6 part 1st Doctor story in the style of The Dalek Master Plan or The Chase.
Also on my list was Beyond War Games, the 7th Doctors final days and a new companion for the 8th Doctor.
I'll have to cross my fingers for some of my other wishes,
3DAs = Delgado Master 4DAs = New Adventures with Sarah Jane and Harry 5DAs = More Peri Adventures 6DAs = a return to Sixies ruder persona (just a bit less cuddly) 9DAs = less stand-alone, more story arc War Doctor Range = final days of the time was, disillusion and clashes with Rassilon 12As = Capaldi!

Yeah, what annoys me is that it's *their* Doctor. Why can't they team with a later Doctor, doesn't that make more sense?
But, nonetheless, let's hope that it makes (as I've seen on Twitter) a Koquillion dollars

Not listened to the Noonan 1st Doctor stuff yet but both of the previous releases sound like they are interesting (and slightly creepy) stories. Would people recommend?

So, Big Finish’s take on the Chase then?

I'm gonna say I'm cautiously optimistic here.

Have more companions returned as older versions of themselves than haven't now?

Have more companions returned as older versions of themselves than haven't now? Another BF trope.

Have more companions returned as older versions of themselves than haven't now? I know some actors feel uncomfortable trying to sound as they did 40-50 years ago, which I can fully appreciate. I certainly don't sound as I did back in 1983. So if they would prefer to come back as older versions of the characters they used to play, I have no problem with that at all. Apart from anything else, it reinforces what The Fifth Doctor said in Power of the Doctor, "I never forget any of you." So it makes sense he would revisit his old friends from time to time. Additionally, if it is a choice between hearing older versions of returning travelling companions, or not having them return at all ... I know which I'd prefer.

To me it negates what the 5th Doctor said, if Doctor Who just keeps revisiting past companions when they are older there is no forgetting.

^ Yes, especially as we were supposed to be focusing on Dodo, a companion so unlike the others she leaves by leaving a note! That's more worth exploring rather than an older Vicki who will act and sound like nothing has happened to her in between leaving and rejoining.

I agree I was sad not to have Dodo on board this time around. I love her and the First Doctor's interaction on audio and, like the many other things the character missed out on, she's never met the Daleks before.

I'm looking forward to this one. I have enjoyed all the Noonan releases and think he does a great job. I actually prefer him to Bradley. Its a shame that Dodo has been dumped but hopefully it is only temporary. Whereas I don't really see the need for the whole older Vicki thing but I suppose it is good to get as much content with the remaining 60's cast as possible.
