Does the Master have more of a presence in this one than he did in Nemesis Express?

Does the Master have more of a presence in this one than he did in Nemesis Express? Yes. I'm part way through it, and I'm delighted to say this Master is a lot more central to what's going on than ever before.

Finished listening to Part one So far it’s been really good, Eric Roberts Is on fine form Vienna and the master make actually a good twisted version of a doctor/companion team The American accents aren’t too bad for a big finish audio
Eager to see the next two parts

Episode 2 still manages to hold the momentum of episode 1 however with the inclusion of a character from vol 2 ehh kinda drags it a bit down for me the scenes with Vienna and The Master are great though axons are well realized here so yeah bring on Episode 3

This was a good romp. Much more of the Master, and it was something of a joy hearing him manipulate his way around the military from the start. The final episode does get a bit stuck with him negotiating with Axos, but it’s still entertaining. I’m glad he seems to have broken free of the continuity cul-de-sac of the Time Vortex; continuity be damned, let’s have this Master on the loose.
Vienna and Passion get some good material, and I think this makes a good point for their story to come to an end.
One thing; why did they advertise McGann’s involvement so prominently? His appearance comes really late in the telling and would have been much more dramatic not knowing it was around the corner.

Okay part 3 is finished Let’s start with the positives
Great performances from Eric, Chase and Paul Some great dialogue 50/50 on the reveal of McGann The ending was great despite one bit of dialogue The theme music is slightly different which makes it really stand out in a great way
The negatives: The bit of dialogue at the end from the MC I hate the new goal of him wanting to repeat the same plan in the past which I feel is just stupid
Passion and her voice actor was a bit grating
The pacing and the McGann reveal felt incredibly rushed and felt cobbled together
Final words: Vol 3 started off great, stumbled slightly in the beginning and just barely made it over the line, is it better than nemesis express? Yes it is Is it better than volume 1? Nope
All in all I did enjoy planet of doom but I felt it needed a rewrite in the second and third stories to let it breathe and do something interesting Volume 3 does leave the range with a fresh start with an ending I truly approve of and hopefully Vienna will be given a rest
8 out of 10

It would be foolish not to expect a resurrection scene for The Master during episode one, but at least we don’t have to wait too long for it. To be honest, I loved the whole build-up. A Master who enjoys this level of saturnine malevolence deserves it. I love this incarnation, so the more of him the better. Also, a Gary Numan song gets a namecheck in part one (it’s I die: You Die, by the way). I think on the basis of this set, the entire trilogy works better. Master! works well as a part one, Nemesis Express as the middle, and this is a fine and fond finale. ‘The odd couple’, as mark687 said upthread, is bang-on – this is the best use of Eric Roberts and Chase Masterson, because they’re very well suited and switched on to the characters’ love/hate relationship and it works beautifully. Now we seem to have come to an end to the partnership, I’m really enjoying it. If this is Vienna’s final throw of the dice, it’s a satisfying one. There’s a bit too much bit too much technobabble from time to time, which takes a while to get used to but the heightened use of the main character makes up for that: nice to hear him namecheck UNIT, Yates and Benton too. There’s a great moment at the start of episode 2 when a character questions The Master’s authority, and inevitably pays the price. There’s something about the callous power of this incarnation that, as soon as the subordinate questions him, goosebumps happen. Don’t mess with this Master. He even gets a voiceover a la McGann from the TV Movie, at the start of the episode 3. The ‘spaghetti and meatballs’ Axons are a great adversary, drenched in Howard Carter’s tremendous, epic sound design. Several antagonists, all vying for the top spot – and then the Doctor turns up. Of course, it would be nice to have more of him, but he’s used brilliantly and Paul McGann is always terrific. In fact, the whole cast are wonderful. This is my favourite of the boxsets featuring this version of The Master: I really hope it isn’t the last. “You want a chic ken?”

Ep 1 was “The Master in Aliens”, and I loved it. Vieena was unnecessary at that stage IMO. Her role could easily be filled by Raven 5.
