I really wonder what Simon Holub's secret is when it comes to his amazing cover design, because this is just pure, pure beauty.

Might want to edit the title; 2024!
Quite an interesting announcement. Sontarans tend to do well in expanded media, especially lately with their appearances in Torchwood, Short Trips & 9DAs.
And monthly too! Slight sense that Big Finish is rediscovering the merits of monthly releases again.

I like how BF are making each story available separately, but if I were to get all 4 in the bundle, that's quite a price increase compared to say, the Peladon boxset, which was also 4 related stories but in one box

A very exciting sounding story and exactly what I want to see Big Finish do more of... But. This is four one hour stories which as a box set would have been 19.99 previously and now they're asking for 32.00 (bundle download price) - that's quite a price difference 😕

Also the £10.99 releases don't tend to go up after the pre-order window. EDIT: Maybe I'm just more happy to justify this as someone who spends that on Torchwood every month anyway! EDIT 2: Actually, to work it out - Peladon on download is currently £29.99, vs £32 for the Sontarans vs Rutans series. As I say, I assume that the four separate releases will have separate covers, so this is a good deal imo. On CD, Peladon is £34.99 + £3 shipping, so £37.99 total. Sontarans vs Rutans is £40 (no shipping fees for bundles), but that gets you four individual CDs with individual booklets, cases, and - hopefully - covers. Therefore SvR is £2.01 more than Peladon both on CD and download. While there's an increase, as I say it's likely you'll get more for SvR, plus prices have risen at a lower rate than inflation. So a pretty good deal.

I'm going to be cautious with this series, I built up my expectations with Once and Future and was ultimately disappointed.
I'd love this series to cover the history of the Sontaran Rutan war, whilst also having a consistent thread linking each story.
My preference for releases such as these would be one long arc like Dalek Universe but perhaps the thinking is to encourage people that may only buy one or two depending on the Doctor involved.

This is a bit strange, given that it bucks the trend towards boxsets of the last 10-15 years at BF The recent Star Cops was the same. I wonder what's behind this decision. From a postage cost and environmental impact point of view, boxsets are clearly better so I'm guessing the decision must be based on commercial or creative factors?

Interesting idea, and a return to monthly releases? The sontarans have been rather underused i.m.o by Big Finish so I think I'll check these out.
Is this the first time the War Doctor has featured outside his own range?

I'm hoping the first story is set at the actual Giant's Causeway on the north coast of Northern Ireland . . .

Do you think we'll get a variety of Sontarans as the initial cover is just the comedy Sontarans?
I think the Classic and Chibnall Sontarans were much more menacing.
I often say I prefer Moffat and RTD but Chibnall's Sontarans are my favourite of the revived era.
Although I do have a soft spot for Strax.

Sign me up. Sounds like fun. Hopefully we also get a bit horror like in Fang Rock.

Rutans! Underused so good to see them but not sure about War Doctor turning up. But overall looks interesting.

Excellent stuff. STUNNER of a cover.
The Sontaran-Rutan war is one thing that hasn't been over-done in any media either, so plenty to play about with.
With different Doctors coming in at different points, it would be fine with me if they did different types of Sontaran. The more serious but darkly comic Bob Holmes/Kevin Lindays ones can be with one Doc, the comic ones RTD and Moffat ones with another, the more miltaristic tactical Chibnall ones with another. The useless tall ones from The Two Doctors? Well, umm...never mind. Different types of Doctor - different types of Sontaran. Works perfectly for me, if they do that. Given the war setting, I'd err towards the Holmes like ones mostly but hey.
Very, very cool news.

I haven't listened to/purchased those (the mixed reviews and price point has put me off tbh) but that makes sense given what I know about the arc. At one time I think the BBC were keeping quite a tight lease on using the War Doctor, maybe now RTD is back and keen to expand the brand he's allowing BF more free use of the character?

I'm very up for this, but as was said above, I'll wait to hear exactly what Sontarans we're getting here. I doubt we'll be getting bunch of comedy characters, but you never know.
The recent Flux story fired me up again about how ruthless these bad boys - yes, I called them bad boys - can be, so I'm very hopeful and happy about this!
Just noticed this is written by Lizzie Hopley, a favourite writer. That's pretty much clinched the deal!
