Also looks like an older Benny on what we can see of the cover in the new Vortex.

Cover art for the boxset. Hmm, not impressed tbh. Four very bland generic efforts. Each is basically one of the half-dozen or so stock shots of Chris, with a supporting character and either an object or alien which is specific to the story, all against a background of colour. I know doing individual covers adds cost, so I'm not sure these were worth it.

And here was I looking at them, being rather impressed, especially with the aliens, and thinking “my beloved Fourth Doctor won’t be getting such care and attention this year”.
Enjoy them whilst you can, because even the Ninth Doctor will have to conform to Big Finish’s standardised packaging eventually.

Another strong set
A Theater of Cruelty
An interesting study into the mind-set behind the beginning of what we think of as a fairly recent Artform
The Running Men
The "TV EP" of the set Great Cast, good pace, strong "Visuals"
Ancient History
Rather melancholy and emotional character piece for older Bernice
Ecclestone excels as usual.

I am almost 1/2 way through the last story with Bernice.. Enjoying all stories so far. Christopher is really determined to make his BF iteration a positive, bubbly jokey interpretation ..

I think you need to accept that this range isn't what you want it to be.

I sadly have to agree with the sentiments at the end of this review. For me, most of what I would like from a Ninth Doctor range is missing. After a short burst of novelty at hearing Christopher Eccleston returned, I find nothing new or interesting to incline me towards spending more money on future sets. There's nothing bad about the stories, I just feel indifferent towards the range, I don't get hooked in the way I do with other ranges. Still, if I'm in the minority, I'm happy that others enjoy the range and there's plenty of Doctor Who out there that is for me.

I get an odd feeling that “Ancient History” is Lisa saying goodbye to being Benny… dunno why….

My issue with this range is the lack of 2 parter, these 1 part stories are OK but don't invest in characters & story as everything needs to be sorted in 60 minutes surely longer stories should be included like the Old Friends set which featured a brilliant 2 parter.

I enjoyed this set quite a bit, especially the first story. I didn't realize how much I have missed Alex Vlahos as a voice actor. Yes, of course I miss his Dorian, but he excels every time he's in an audio, whatever the character. I adore immersive theater so this was right up my alley.
The second story was good, but for some reason it didn't grab me as much as the others.
The last story was great. Benny's sense of hurt that this Doctor didn't seem to trust her enough to be honest with her was lovely. Like Vlahos, Lisa Bowerman elevates every story that she is in.
I hate to say that I do agree with others. Eccleston is terrific at what he is doing in these stories. However, his focus on staying away from the darker sides of the character make for a less interesting Doctor that what he gave us on screen. All the iterations of the Doctor have a darker side, it's part of the character. I don't believe he needs to stay and live in that part of the character, but glimpses of it would go a long way into making this Doctor feel more rounded and true on audio.
That being said, I gave this set a 4/5, because I do think it's quite good. So while I'm still enjoying the range, I do feel that there is room for improvement.
