Cover is interesting however the alien threat involved is underwhelming considering the return of the Nestene Consciousness and Autons in the first release. Why can't we see UNIT against the Master, given that Big Finish are celebrating the character this year and UNIT have taken on the Master numerous times?

We know NOTHING about these guys - they could be absolutely stunning foes.

I like the idea of a new, original enemy for UNIT. I wouldn't want them to bring back an iconic monster for each boxset. BF have come up with some great original enemies in the past, so I'm excited to see the Tengobushi in action.

Personally I'm a bit wary of recycling the same old enemies too. The Master is great - but that doesn't mean he has to show up in everything. He's had a pretty fair run over the last year or two - and looks like that will continue.

A new alien allows the writers to really get creative, and not worry about keeping consistency with previous stories. There also aren't the expectations that people have when familiar foes return, and the inevitable "this monster/character was better in a previous story".

They look kinda like cool samurai like warriors. I was thinking steampunk looking samurais myself. And exactly, we only know what the press release has told us. They could be fantastic bad guys. Dismissing the whole thing based on the image on the cover of a box set? Come on.

UNIT has to establish itself as a series on it's own terms and that means seperating itself from Doctor Who through original antagonists. However, it should be noted, that this isn't the only UNIT box set out this year. It's possible that present day UNIT could be dealing with The Master's machinations in November! (Although I'd prefer it to be one story out of the box set, not the main event - I'd rather the series continue to define itself seperatly away from Who)

Alien 1: This is our leader, Masuta. Kate: My name is Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, from the Unified Intelligence Taskforce... Masuta: Lethbridge-Stewart you say? Keeping things in the family I see. Kate: What do you mean... Masuta: My pawns know me as Masuta, but you *pulls off mask* may call me The Master.

They look kinda like cool samurai like warriors. Tengobushi. Bushi means 'warrior' in Japanese (Bushido, he warrior code of samurai, means 'the way of the warrior'). Tengu are warrior demons, normally depected as part bird (especially with a big beak) or, in some later illustrations, with a large (often red) nose.
