Novel Adaptations are back!
I’m extremely excited about this, it’s been far too long since cold fusion.
I like when we get old Gallifrey lore, and the Virgin Novels were very good at that. Mix in Paul Cornell and Richard Armitage’s Rassilon and you’ve got a very intriguing book.
I can’t wait for July.
Hopefully, this is the first of many new Novel Adaptations!

Yay!!! Pre-ordered!!!
Nice to have one of my favourite ranges back for even just the one release. However, Blood Harvest would be nice too. Or Sands of Time if they've got Peter, Janet and Sarah in a good mood!
I've said it before and I'll say it again but Big Finish don't give up on their ranges completely. If we are to get more I'd love to have Bad Therapy, So Vile a Sin, Dying Days and Deceit adapted. But any would be wonderful.
As for the 180 minutes running time I wonder if we're getting a 'bonus' like with Love and War - Blood Invocation adaptation/short trip, same cast, same writer, etc...

I have never read Goth Opera but the Novel Adaptations I have listened to were excellent so I'm willing to give this a go.
It also wouldn't surprise me if they did decide to adapt 'Blood Harvest' next as many of you have already said.

Never heard of it! (Which speaks volumes about my general ignorance of 'The Wilderness Years' of 'Doctor Who'!)
In fact, I never read any of the novels, which means that I had the bonus of enjoying the Novel Adaptations range as brand new stories and enjoyed them very much. I was surprised they weren't very good sellers, but that went for the Comic Adaptations too and I loved that set as well.
So, vampires in Manchester? At least they won't have to worry about the sun...
Definitely buying this and I now want the other one that's been mentioned which I haven't heard of too!

Outstanding news! Goth Opera is one of my very favorite Who novels and I've been dreaming of an adaptation for years! This made my day, Big Finish. Well played.

Interesting this is coming in at 180 mins as previous Novel Adaptations had all been 120 minutes (except Cold Fusion). I would have thought Goth Opera was one of the "lighter" NA/MAs in terms of page count and complexity and if they could do other stories in 120 minutes, they could have done this in 120 minutes too. Not that I'm complaining, mind you! Honestly, my biggest problem with the novel adaptations is how much was cut from them. 180 minutes feels much more appropriate. I haven’t read either of these books, so I am only going by what I have read on the internet. Despite featuring the Seventh Doctor and Ace, isn’t Blood Harvest a prequel to Goth Opera? Was there a prologue in the original novel or has this been added because there are no plans to do Blood Harvest? They’re only loosely linked. You don’t need to have read Blood Harvest to understand Goth Opera, it’s more like an Easter egg than anything.

Yes!! This was at the top of my list for stories I wanted adapted! As soon as I’m able this is such an easy preorder for me!

I completely understood Goth Opera, if they are linked its not in a significant enough way to dampen the experience.

Has BF ever done a Great Vampire story before?

Has BF ever done a Great Vampire story before? Zagreus had Colin Baker’s vampire lord. Otherwise, they’ve been exclusively the Earthbound cousins.

Has BF ever done a Great Vampire story before? They did Project: Twilight. That was a great vampire story, but sadly not a Great Vampire story!
(Sorry - couldn't resist!)

Kinda baffled me that Big F is doing more novel adaptations especially with Nick saying that they didn’t sell well but hey I’m happy for people that can get more of them
I’ll have to wait for the trailer and cover art before committing because that price tag is pretty high especially for the fact that it’s a simple jewel case Cd that doesn’t come with a slipcase cover

Hopefully they properly space out any future Novel Adapations I only started listening in 2018, where they spaced really closely together?

Hopefully they properly space out any future Novel Adapations I only started listening in 2018, where they spaced really closely together? Love & War was late 2012. And then a batch came out comprising of The Highest Science, Damaged Goods and the three Fourth Doctor ones from December 2014 - May 2015. And they were spaced out every few months or so from there. If I remember correctly, The Romance of Crime & The English Way of Death and All-Consuming Fire & Theatre of War were released on the same days. For the most part they just followed the same pattern as either monthly series or box set ranges.

(The latter actually being released first, so now we have releases 7 and 8 the wrong way round. Big Finish was really pushing the "Sherlock Holmes in a Doctor Who story" angle.) But 10 releases in 2 years was too much, especially with four of them also released in two collectors editions. (And then combining 7th Doctor RTD's Damaged Goods and 4th Doctor Well-Mannered War in a Special Edition was a really bad idea.) Maybe not the number of releases, but that there was no cohesion to the range. Why those novels? Why that order? etc.
