You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Nice to see the Terror of the Vervoids waistcoat and cravat getting an outing on a BF cover. Has happened surprisingly rarely over the years.

I guess big finish can use the iconic Davros look despite RTD’s comments recently

I hadn’t considered that. I wonder whether it means “no specific mandate from RTD” or “discouraged only on stories produced later”.
It will be interesting to see where that goes in the long run, seeing that the TV and audio Davroses diverged some time ago. If it’s up to BF, I get the hunch we’d need a solid TV appearance beyond a comedy webiside before they felt compelled to sync up.
In the meantime, happy to go with any Time War / Flux / Toymaker / multiverse / “most of the universe is knackered, babe” explanation that fits.

Regardless of the rights or wrongs RTD doesn't own Doctor Who. So I don't think he can decide how BF portray Davros.

Happy to be set right here, and I’m wary of oversimplifying, but haven’t there been past cases of the BBC (under the guidance of the current showrunner) vetoing Big Finish choices?
I half-remember Briggs saying the directive for “no more unbound doctors” came straight from RTD. I may well be mistaken. Does anyone have any specific examples of showrunners directly ruling out certain BF choices?

So The Hollows Of Time, the Lost Story, which did feature The Master in it was re-written for "Professor Stream".

There's a difference between not being allowed to use a character because they will be appearing in the show & not being allowed to portray a character according to a certain design. For example I don't think there's any stipulation as to how the cybermen should look in BF.

For example I don't think there's any stipulation as to how the cybermen should look in BF. The BBC as licensors will surely be able to veto anything they wish though - as they have when BF tried to use different logos. They also gave special dispensation for New Series Daleks before the licence was granted for Gallifrey to use them on covers. If the Beeb didn't want something to happen, it's their property. And BF would - more importantly - not want to rock the boat. I'm sure BF would rather have the cash they lost recording Absent Friends back but the BBC blocked that. RTD knows BF is for diehard, somewhat older, fans and they work in the past for a living with past Doctor stories. I'd be sure Davros being present on a BF cover is as much of a non-issue as him being on the upcoming covers of S21 and S25. For the "main" show it's clearly a different proposition.

Maybe, but the Absent Friends thing isn't really relevant in this case.

Glad to see Steve Foxon back on the music. Nice to have Colin Baker stories which actually sound like Colin Baker stories.

This was fantastic!
This story is what you get if you chuck season 22 in a blender and make a smoothie out of it.
The story flowed from the start of the first disc right up to the end of the third. It takes the best of season 22 and pushes all of it and serves it up in a very appealing package.
I also think this is the best of Peri we’ve seen this decade. I certainly hope this isn’t the last of this take on Peri we see.
A very promising start for the new producer, and between this and the Quinn Dilemma the Sixth Doctor is back and better than ever!

A Celebratory and at times reflective piece continuing the great stuff with older Peri prime. Colin and Terry Molly always makes great drama. Highly intrigued to hear who and what the next set features.

Just finished to listening to all 6 parts
Pros: Good Performances from Colin, Nicola, Bonnie, Terry and the actors playing the cybermen Some great bits of a dialogue the 6/Peri and Mel team work quite well and I hope they do more with the team Peri was really well done in this story Some of the twists were handled quite well Some of the cybermen stuff was well done A lovely scene between Davros and the 6th Doctor
Cons: The Audio shouldn’t have been 6 parts it felt extremely dragged out Pacing is over the place Some of the acting is truly abysmal and the Australian accent of one character was quite frankly horrible The reveal of one character felt like a bit too much and the voice didn’t quite sound great as previous appearances
Result As a celebration release I can forgive most of it but it did feel like so much overindulgence the worst crime is that the story felt so dragged out and should have cut to 4 episodes at best, they say that it was like season 22 in a blender and well it does have some of the problems
Some bits were quite meta which does work in its favour for a rating I give it a generous 6 out of 10, remove some of the padding of the story. change some of the actors and don’t have a shrill Australian parody accent for one of the characters and I’d rate it higher
It’s better than most of the 6th doctor Boxset lately but it’s not as inventive as some of the main range even some of the latter ones for Colin (except the love craft story f that story)
