Uh-oh it looks like we skipped over V, W, and X You're right and I was the skipper! How did that happen?
OK, tricky one but the answer is out there...
The X-Files Theme
(Do I get away with that? I think the music had another title but everyone knows it as 'The X-Files Theme'.)
That's fine and we'll keep Your Cheatin' Heart by Hank Williams as Y
So that put's us at Z again
Zombie by The Cranberries

No-one objected when Alastair used it on page 8 and it seems bethhigdon does not object to repeating songs mentioned by other people (as Timelsschild mentioned Zombie) my own thoughts are that on the one hand repeating songs already used does not feel true to the spirit but on the other hand I can't think of any Xs I've heard that have not already been mentioned (though I do know a couple more Zs)

Seems an innocent and easy enough oversight to make for a thread this long and active. (Heck, I’ve nearly repeated my own song choices on a few occasions, and I’m keeping a list!)
All the same, a good reminder for everyone to double check around X-Y-Z, where the pickings are slim and the popular songs have been named. :-)
Provided it keeps things simple and fun, maybe there’s a rule when an accidental repeat does come up? Say, next poster shouts “[Fun catchphrase here]” and makes their own “canonical” choice for the letter?

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Two mistakes in a row, I'm really slipping here aren't I?
In music a repeat can be a reprise anyway and even the greatest composers do it. Musicals and operas are simply stuffed with them and if anyone ever suggests it's because they were running out of time to complete the score before First Night, oh no it's for musical reasons alone.... of course it is maestro, of course it is!

Delilah by Tom Jones
(He didn't write it, but in the UK it's definitely known as a Tom Jones song. He even sang it at one of the royal events in recent years, with the obligatory crowd sing-a-long. Including the royals!)

A song doesn't have to have been written by the artist to be on this list. Many singers are not songwriters. Anyway, Easy Livin' - Uriah Heep.

Ghost Train by Gorillaz youtu.be/UdF9_gGv_vc?si=ULY97n0XAynFzg2y(One of those great “why wasn’t this on the album?” b-sides. In the fictional lore of the cartoon band, it’s the first song they played together, and it certainly has that energy.)

Legal Man by Belle and Sebastian youtu.be/mQtDjR255qY?si=AfWBPgiuuNmDSi-2(Belle and Sebastian tend to be saddled with words like “twee”, “gentle” and “melancholy”, and not always unjustly. But they are just as often joyous and bouncy. Sometimes they’ll even sing a swear word! Optional extracurricular Spotify playlist: Belle and Sebastian’s Fun Side.)
