I really hope volume 2 of Third Doctor Adventures features a Cyberman story as we not really heard much of the Third Doctor battling Mondas finest.
But what story should you think would make a good setting for for the Third Doctor to battle the Cybermen, earth bound, space station, alien world, historic? & who would you like to write it?
For me it's earh bound & John Dorney.

Treoloar's Third Doctor in a rematch with Iris Wildthyme - like in the fabulous novel Verdigris.

I think it would fit so well as a pre-season 8 Earthbound story, perhaps just after Liz returned to Cambridge and have the Doctor companionless. If they could replicate the tone of season 7 I think it would be perfect.

An outrider for the return of Mondas in the 80s turning up early?

Obviously I'm overcompensating but I think all 3rd Doctor stories should take place on alien worlds or be historicals after that grounding he got. Have to hand it to him that he can just up and start getting around in a jalopy and still be The Doctor, but it does make me keen for more stories about Three and a certain blue box.

Be interesting to see what writer Andy Lane would do with the Cybermen, actually i wouldn't mind a J&L vs Cyberman story in a future box set of there's. Justin Richards i think would be another good choice for a Cybermen story.

I agree that an Earthbound story would be best and I think a base-under-seige story set entirely in UNIT HQ would be interesting.

I haven't seen it, but weren't UNIT involved in defeating the Cybermen from the 2nd Doctor story - Invasion?
How about a solo Third Doctor being called to a UNIT facility - perhaps an R&D centre where they are exploring/experimenting on the remains of the Invasion Cybermen. The cyber technology starts to convert the personnel of the base and the base has to go into lock down. Because the Cybermen are beginning again they are not, at the start, in full suits, so that converted individuals can still be identified and the horror of their conversion is more apparent. As there is no existing companion in the story the listener wouldn't know who, other than the Doctor will survive.

Have to agree with Timelord007 A Cyberman story written by the Dorney would be awesome.
It'd be nice to see the style of Cyberman from Revenge of the Cybermen but I would imagine I am in the minority on that point.
I'm really looking forward to the next 3rd Doctor release.

Seeing as how we've already had an earthbound sequel to The Invasion with The Blue Tooth, I'd rather see a season 10 cyber story in space.

I suspect I would suggest...
A third doctor tidying up international electromatics...
And all is not dormant...
A hidden second wave.
Or...
Something that would really mess with continuity
Cyber Silurians!
From the visitors/twin moon... Or some such fan nonsense

I was thinking we'd never had a Cybermen story set any earlier than the era of DW and then I remembered The Silver Turk (which is pretty great) and Illegal Alien (which I haven't read but I've heard is good)... Oh, and The Next Doctor! (Which... exists!)
Don't know if you could really do a good Cybermen story any earlier than the Victorian era. They're too caught up in technology to be too early in time.
Maybe a modern day 2016 story with the Cybermen and the Third Doctor?
