I'm debating whether to get this but don't want to read the spoilers thread. How are people who've heard it enjoying it so far?

I quite enjoyed it. The Ninth Doctor story was very in keeping with early Series 1, the Tenth Doctor story was okay, and the two Eleventh Doctor stories brought some one-off Christmas companions to life and really made me think they'd work as regular recurring companions. Plus Churchill was great throughout the whole thing.
I'd recommend it.

I think it's an average set made something more special by Ian McNeice who goes at these stories with full abandon. If you're going to get it? Grab it while its still on the pre-order price.

Do they normally last to the end of the month? Yep, though once it's been released, BF charge postage to UK folks so ordering, say, Churchill, today would be £22, not £20 so it's best to pre-order before the release hits, even just by a day.

Is it a spoiler-free review?

I try not go give away spoilers - just a flavour of the set.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked the final two stories more than the first two. I will order the next one when it comes up.

A slightly unusual beast but it does give some fresh angles for story telling and is four tales with no arc for a change

Just to put a contrary view, I was disappointed with this. I found two of the stories dull, one ok and one good. Ian McNeice was good, but not sure this is an idea that warrants a further box set. The weakest of the new series stuff so far, IMHO.

To be honest it would have to be exceptional to beat those . I did enjoy them, there were different and McNeice is great as Churchill (accents aside). Going forward though I think I'd be happier with Churchill appearing in other boxsets rather than a full set of stories on his own. Cheers Tony

A nice set, nothing terribly exciting - but it's very hard to see how this could become a self-sustaining range.

There's only so much DW you can fit in with Churchill's life - he can't be fighting aliens forever in his own timeline. However, i'd definitely like him to appear in other ranges as a strong supporting character (a bit like Doctor 8 in River's boxset). One idea that could work as a Churchill standalone would be stories from the alternate timeline in series 6 (as seen in the Wedding of River Song) Cheers Tony

Or maybe the range will be less just "Churchill Years" and more a different historical figure with each set?
