The OP asked "does anyone have an inkling?" in its original post. My speculation is 100% just that - a guess. Not even remotely a spoiler, sorry.

Are we really at the point where a rumor of a novel adaptation is some kind of spoiler? I'm not asking to be confrontational but it really seems to push the meaning of the word to the breaking point. 100%. It's deduction and guesswork - even if we hit on the right answer we won't know it till it's officially announced.

I'd honestly like to see it be an adaptation of either Lungbarrow or Cold Fusion, especially if it's Jonathan Morris or John Dorney adapting it. I know this is far out but I would like to see Iceberg, The Left-Handed Hummingbird and Conundrum adapted as they have been my favorite novels that haven't been adapted.

A spoiler is something that discloses a fact that is either not widely known or not known to many because it's unofficial or not known to those who have not yet read/seen/heard a particular book/instalment/audio/episode etc
If someone knows what the release in question will be, and wants to post this information before BF announce it, then they must use spoiler tags, other than that, post in the clear. Speculation is not a spoiler, but if you start to bring supporting facts to the table it *may* stray into that realm. So far nothing I've seen in this thread comes close to being a spoiler.

Right now, Big Finish are letting the hype build around the release and we're all in a frevour over what it could be. Many of us want to continue that experience unbated by leaks/rumours and would prefer to be teased by Big Finish's publicity around the release. I'd say discussions of leaks/rumors, however detrimental that might seem, does in fact account as a spoiler because it's taking away from the experience Big Finish is trying to set out for it's customers and the anticipation around the release in general.

1. There's been no leak or rumour. We're all guessing here. An educated guess is still a guess.
2. Jason has already said "not even close to being a spoiler". That's kinda "case closed" for whether or not we're posting spoilers.
The admin has spoken and no-one else seems to have any issues. But, I feel like we'd derail too much if we keep posting about it.

Josh Wilson from Mad Norwegian Press and host of The Oncoming Storm podcast say he's heard from someone inolved what it is and he says he can't believe they're even attempting it. Makes me think more along the lines of Interference or Face of the Enemy... though I suppose those particular examples have rather large casting deficiencies that would need doing about. ...and are EDA/PDA now that I think about it, which would rule them out anyway. Hmm.

Ah, good point!
Bring on the EDA/PDAs!
Hell, I'm calling it! It's going to be The Eight Doctors! You heard it here first!

I'd love for it to be Lungbarrow, mainly because it is a book I've long heard about but have never read. And it remains pretty pricey, if I did decide to try and pick it up.

Bigger question is who has the rights to the originals? And why aren't they available digitally? Makes no sense.
Would be cool for Lingerie since people are asking for it.

If they were to do a faithful version (which, even on 3 discs would be tough without cutting a lot - it's very dense) BF fandom would erupt with debate It would really set the heather on fire.

I don't know why fandom would have to erupt. Besides the notable inclusion of Benny, BF has always picked & chosen what they want to incorporate into their continuity, yes? Adaptations are just that, aren't they?

Adaptations are just that, aren't they? Well, like you say - you haven't read it Lungbarrow is notorious because of the controversial, divisive parts. You omit them? It's not Lungbarrow. The aspects that a good chunk of the readership took issue with couldn't just be left out. We had topics on just potentially adapting it on the old forum which went on and on and on and that was without an adaptation even being announced. Also, I said "erupt with debate", not just "erupt". Small but important difference

I really enjoyed Damaged Goods. Hopefully more Chris & Roz. With those two I'd love Christmas On A Rational Planet but given how much Lawrence Miles seems to hate BF (and Nu-Who, and..most things)...I can't see it happening! He did write a Benny audio but since then has dissed BF heavily calling it bad fan-fic. That one notious interview where he ripped Gary Russel to shreds comes to mind. I'd also love Eternity Weeps with Chris but there's something involving an old TV companion in it that may hit a bit close too home for most listeners. It's a great pity to me that we've had 4 Gareth Roberts adaptations and not one has been The Plotters or Tragedy Day which I much prefer to his Season 17 homages to Douglas Adams.

Oops. Auto correct fail. Lungbarrow. The point remains.

There are a few that fit in the "really?" category. Death Path requires a Delgado recast (unless you want to say the first incarnation of the Master looked and sounded like Beevers, making the Zombeevers basically "a repeat face). Dying Days has a fairly hefty role for Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart (although, one could argue Kate could replace him). Lungbarrow is a mess of abandoned plot lines. It could be something truely abominable like Rags or Independence Day I suppose. War of the Daleks both fits the buildup to the Time War and screams "WHY?!?" at the same time. Saint Anthony's Fire maybe? Nothing says "why was this an idea?" When a good third of the plot involves a brainwashed and naked Ace.
