It's funny how Big Finish will be producing and releasing more New Series material than the BBC this year! There's the War Doctor, Tenth Doctor and Donna, UNIT and Classic Doctors New Monsters. Personally, I'm most looking forward to more David Tennant and Catherine Tate. Since there's no series next year maybe the BBC could do a one off deal with BF and let them do a few audiobooks or specials with Capaldi to bridge the gap...a fan can dream... Sadly, I'd say it's highly doubtful. But, we've still got DWM and Titan Comics to tide us over in the meantime.....

Yeah it's unlikely to happen (especially since the BBC wouldn't want to introduce a new companion just for audios, prior to series 10) maybe we'll get a few minisodes instead...you never know it's 20 years since the TV movie next year, maybe Moffat will cave into demands and make the Xmas special more special by doing a 2 Drs story with McGann and Capaldi...realistically though, yes it looks like no who for the next year

Hmm if we get Torchwood/ Series 1 Broadchurch Chibnail OK Cold Blood/Hungry Earth Chibnail no Thanks
Also if this takes effect in 2018 Why on Earth no full series this year?
Do we think we're looking at a claen sweep in 2018?
Predicaicing it now Idris Elda as 13th/14th Doctor for 2018

I wonder if Murray Gold will be stepping down as well? He's done a great job, but I can't help but feel some fresh blood is needed...

Honestly, I'm always constantly amazed at Murray Gold's inventiness - his compositions remain as fresh in the recent series as they were in Rose. He's going to be a hard man to replace

Also if this takes ffect in 2018 Why on Earth no full series this year?
Do we think we're looking at a claen sweep in 2018?
I think it's more of a response to last year's ratings - a shakeup to get viewers back again rather then hoping they'll be back this year.

That's probably true, but you have to wonder if they delay the next series by over year, will the audience still be interested if it's the same writer and actor? On the other hand people bang on about the ratings, but it's clear the BBC had confidence renewing it this far ahead...

EDIT
Time for BF to announce some more DW related pre-orders for release in Summer and Winter to cheer us up maybe?

I am sorry to see Mr Moffet stepping down, but I hope after a series away he can come back to write an episode or two each year.
As for Capaldi staying I remember that when Steven Moffet took over he tried to tempt David Tennant to stay for one more series, so Chibnail might try and do the same. It would certainly be interesting to be able to contrast the same Doctor under different show runners.
Now Big Finish need to announce a monthly series with the 10th Doctor starting in August (which on their What's New page is looking very bereft of Doctor Who in that month at the moment) to give everyone a new Nu-Who series this Autumn.

Well, ****. I'm gone for a half a day and the world ends.
To throw in my two incredibly devalued cents, I like Moffatt, but I am a fan of change and switching things up. I think It's unfair to judge Chibnall based solely on his DW works, yes I know it would give us an idea of how he treats the concepts, but he does have a body of work out there that shows he is a strong writer with interesting ideas. It's impossible to say how Doctor Who would look and work under him, but I don't see the doom and gloom on the horizon.
As far as Capaldi, I'd like him to stay on for another season with Chibnall, if just to see a Doctor through the lens of two different showrunners. I'm curious. And as for who should replace him? I don't know, I'm not that good and that kind of speculation.

There's memes of him already on FB showing what he said about Colin's era. He's going to find it tough to respond to any critics when he starts That vid will be dragged out over and over... How old was he back then? Looks maybe 18 to me, so so glad that no one holds against me things I said 30 years ago when I was teenager.

I hope Chris Chibnall proves me wrong because I think he's the worst person they could have chosen for new showrunner.

I wonder where Chibnall creatively stands on ever making the Doctor a woman? If he brings Saint Olivia over from Broadchurch - I'd love it (after 2 more years of Capaldi!) She's spoken about being a bit upset to only get a tiny role in Series 5. Maybe time to rectify that! Why would the Doctor frown that face though? "I'm the Doctor...and I pose as hospital patients in a coma!"

I was pretty sure Moffat said negative things about the B&W era in the past. We are all human and not every single thing we say can be held against us. And there is so much Doctor Who a fan shouldn't be required to love every second of it.

Ok to be honest I am so glad, I know much of what I put here will not be popular but .... Well at least it honest I just hope they dump capaldi as well, I really feel the show has moved to far from what it should be a family show. Story's to complex, rely too much on back story and coupled with a doctor who is unliveable, change was need. I'm sure Peter Capaldi considers himself as alive.

Whatever you're imagining is far tamer than what you'll find there. The comment board on the Den of Geek article also has quite a bit of bile. I'm not going to judge until there's material to judge, and I'll judge it on it's own merits instead of comparing it to something else. Some people just don't deserve the internet. I think it's fair - especially if you've only see his Who eps, or God forbid, Cyberwoman, to have reservations but saying the show is dead? Calling him all sorts of names? What do these people see in Doctor Who that they like? Do they identify with The Daleks? We should be used to seeing crap like that, I guess. The worst was with RTD. Every week's new ep brought waves of homophobia to Outpost Gallifrey (as was) and the mods did nothing. At least Moffat was usually attacked for his work and not his existence! It makes me worry how ashamed I'll be when we get our first female or ethnic minority actor as The Doctor. Fandom doesn't have a good record. That is definitely unfair, especially saying the show is dead when we haven't seen a single bit of footage from his era yet. I feel sorry for poor Chris Chibnall if he sees any comments like that. I have my reservations about him but I'm going to wait to see what his era is like before I say anything as dramatic as 'this is the end'.

And BTW, how awesome that the BBC are so confident in the show they just toss off "Yeah, in Series 11 when Chris takes over...." How many shows are so important they get seasons promoted 2 years early? Agreed. It's nice to see confidence in the show from the BBC.
