Our faithful adaptation of H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds stars award winning actor Colin Morgan (Humans, The Living and the Dead, Merlin) alongside Ronald Pickup as The Curate, Nigel Lindsay as The Artilleryman, Dan Starkey as astronomer Ogilvy, with Olivia Poulet, Luke Kempner, Molly Hanson, Stephen Critchlow, Nick Scovell and Lisa Bowerman. Wonderful cast and brilliant director! Here is a video trailer. Reduced price pre-orders available at Sherwood Sound Studios - Online Shop

Debating between the CD and the Limited Edition DVD, so question: how extensive are the behind-the-scenes extras?

Well, I preordered it, on the strength of the Osiris release which was very good. And yes, a great cast.

Anyone picking up the BF version for a later compare and contrast?

Anyone picking up the BF version for a later compare and contrast? I bought the bundle, so I've got it coming. I also noticed that the recent BBC Radio adaptation comes out the start of May, so I'll have 3 versions to check out.

Anyone picking up the BF version for a later compare and contrast? Don't forget, BBC have recently had another new version on the radio - due out on CD and presumably download this month! 3 versions this year.

Debating between the CD and the Limited Edition DVD, so question: how extensive are the behind-the-scenes extras? The CD release will be rather limited in extras, with only a few minutes of interviews and comments on the production if there's space for it. www.sherwoodsoundstudios.com/product/the-war-of-the-worlds/The DVD, however, will be packed with behind-the-scenes stuff including digital versions of the story for easy transfer to devices. www.sherwoodsoundstudios.com/product/the-war-of-the-worlds-dvd/The USB has the most extensive production material available. There are even music free and fx only versions on this release! www.sherwoodsoundstudios.com/product/the-war-of-the-worlds-usb/You will find a list of features in the green description box of the above product pages. Realism and very high production values are what I like, so that's what you get with our adaptation. I personally find a lot of audio drama a bit too over-the-top and edging on silly for my tastes, especially ones that are supposed to be dark tales, whether it's the acting or the effects and music.

It might be because I've been out of the loop for a while, but I don't think I've ever seen a USB option on offer from a production company before. It's a very clever idea, props to whoever came up with it.

So not a new idea but a good idea for the modern world.

I really wish it were a DVD/CD edition as I would have gladly paid more to get additional goodies. 30 bucks or so US to buy the DVD edition just for extensive behind-the-scenes material. Argh.

Release is set for July, more likely the end of July but it depends how long the manufacturing process takes. If we can release earlier we will. DVD and USB prices will return to normal upon release.

Argh. ...and the discrete 5.1 surround sound tracks, and the higher quality, and the digital versions on the disc. Just in the interests of balance, I'd like to point out The Chimes of Midnight vinyl edition that is £89. Makes our DVD for The War of the Worlds look like a bargain!

I have lots of issues with a vinyl reissue with remastered sound and newly produced bts not being available to CD buyers as well believe me.

Digital recordings designed for CD pressed onto analogue vinyl is, from an audiophile point of view, interesting to say the least. I have personal opinions on this practice but not to be discussed here.
