The 5th Doctor for me has not been a priority and having only listened to a couple of the audio stories and not watching any of the T.V stories, I was just curious if anyone could recommend their favourite standalone 5th Doctor releases. Thank you and Much Appreciated.

Spare Parts, Loups-Garoux and the Fifth boxset set are all excellent.
Cheers

Main Range first 50: Spare Parts - Often cited as the best Genesis of the Cybermen story, and for good reason Loups-Garoux - The Fifth Doctor and Turlough encounter werewolves in Rio. You won't find any of the Hollywood cliches here though, and it's a thoughtful piece by Marc Platt
Fanfare for the Common Men - A good, fun story that showcases the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa. Includes original toe tapping tunes, also included as an isolated music suite. Get the CD if you can, it's worth it. Fifth Doctor Box Set - Two excellent stories making the most of the season 19 team of the Fifth Doctor, Adric, Nyssa and Tegan. The first story has them learning to get along with each other to defeat the enemy. Peri and the Piscon Paradox - Not full cast, but an in-depth exploration of the companion Peri. Wonderfully performed by Nicola Bryant and brilliantly written by Marc Platt. The Demons of Red Lodge and Other Stories (it's best to get this in a subscription because you'll get The Four Doctors, only available through subscriptions) - Four continuity free stories, with the fourth being highly innovative. Stockbridge trilogy (Castle of Fear, The Eternal Summer and Plague of the Daleks) - Three stories set in the past, present and future of the rural English village of Stockbridge, from the DWM comics. The Eternal Summer features a character from the comics as played by Mark Williams, who played Rory's father in a couple of 2013 TV episodes. Cuddlesome (a free story) - Available for free, a fun one hour story where the Doctor faces deadly toys! The Elite - A Lost Story originally intended for TV but ultimately not made, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan set between Arc of Infinity and Snakedance. The Children of Seth - A Lost Story originally intended for TV but ultimately not made, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan set between Arc of Infinity and Snakedance. Written by Christopher Bailey, who wrote the two Mara stories Kinda and Snakedance and adapted by Marc Platt. The Kingmaker - A very funny, witty and thought provoking trip into history with the Doctor, Peri and Erimem. One of the many highlights is their different views on events around them and their attitudes towards history, which are a point of interest in any of the historicals with this team (Eye of the Scorpion, Church and The Crown, Council of Nicaea and Son of the Dragon) Singularity - Again it's the Fifth Doctor and Turlough, set in Russia in the near future. To say more would spoil it, but it's another great story. Circular Time - The first anthology release. Four stories with the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa, each themed after one of the seasons. Summer has an excellent performance by David Warner as Sir Isaac Newton and Autumn is simply beautiful.

The Kingmaker is the best by a mile. Spare Parts is solid. The Five Companions is lovey - especially for a scene with Five and Polly. Council Of Nicea, especially if you're interested in the Roman Empire's latter days, is great. Excelis Dawns - one of the most underrated BF stories of them all.

The Kingmaker all the way.
The Eternal Summer is also brilliant, as is Circular Time.
Spare Parts is quite good.
Fanfare for the Common Men is great fun, one of those releases where just about everything comes together.
Cobwebs is timey-wimey, with Sawardian vibes, and yet an outstanding yarn.
The Fifth Doctor Boxset comprises the fantastic Psychodrome and the solid Iterations of i.
Let's see, what else is there...
Butcher of Brisbane, while it does suffer a bit from being a prequel, is still quite good. It's reminiscent of a sci-fi movie, if that makes any sense.
Oh, I feel silly now. How could I forget Son of the Dragon? It's an absolutely wonderful pure historical, that demonstrates that BF can still do mature Who, post-2005. A must-have.
Oh, and there's Loup-Garoux (weird and wonderful, features Turlough without Tegan) Singularity (high-concept, set in Russia, has Turlough without Tegan) and Omega (written by Nev Fountain, need I say more?)
From the Lost Stories, there's Children of Seth and the Elite (which I think falls apart in the last episode, but I'm in the minority.)
From the Companion Chronicles there's Ringpullworld (delightful Magrsian madness, starring Turlough) and Peri and the Piscon Paradox (overrated, if ask me, but still quite good. And Colin Baker is the second actor!)

Goodness me! Where do I start? The ones that are my top favourites are 'Circular Time' 'Castle of Fear' 'The Eternal Summer' 'Plague of the Daleks' 'Spare Parts' 'The Demons of Red Lodge and Other Stories' '1963: Fanfare For The Common Men' and 'The Fifth Doctor Box Set' ('Psychodrome' and 'Iterations of I'). I think you'll enjoy those as they're very good audio stories. Tim.

I'd recommend either 'Loups-Garoux' or 'Eye of the Scorpion'. A couple of top-notch stories there

If you're after stand-alone, I'd avoid the Fifth Doctor, Tegan, Turlough and older Nyssa trilogies after 2010. There are some great stories in there, but understanding them tends to require knowing the backstory. There are plenty of other stories you can enjoy though.

I agreed with The Kingmaker. But others that are terrific are Spare Parts and Creatures of Beauty. This one is not told in a linear fashion, but it's one of my favorite stories.

Spare Parts is excellent, as is The Fifth Doctor Box Set.
I enjoy stories with the Fifth Doctor, Peri, and Erimem, The Eye of the Scorpion was the first one with that trio.

Fifth has become my favorite audio Doctor, even though I wasn't overly fond of his tenure on television. I'm not entirely sure why this is, but I love his BF stories. Here are some that could stand alone:
With Adric, Nyssa, Tegan:
Fifth Doctor Box Set: Psychodrome / Iterations of I These are the only stories with Adric (so far) and both are very good.
With Nyssa: Spare Parts (MR #34) Creatures of Beauty (MR #44) - one I haven't yet heard myself, but it's often lauded by others Circular Time (MR #91) - one I haven't yet heard myself, but it's often lauded by others The Demons of Red Lodge & Other Stories (MR #142)
With Tegan: The Gathering (MR #87) - it has strong ties to plotlines in three other stories, but stands alone just as well
With Nyssa and Tegan: The Waters of Amsterdam (MR #208) - just released this month; set right after Arc of Infinity
With Turlough: Loups-Garoux (MR #20)
With Nyssa, Tegan, Turlough: Cobwebs (MR #136) - provided you have seen the TV story Terminus; this title kicks off a lengthy run of stories with these companions Heroes of Sontar (MR #146) - be warned that some listeners feel there was too much humor in the story
With Peri: Red Dawn (MR #8) The Eye of the Scorpion (MR #24)
Fifth Doctor solo: Omega (MR #47) - a challenging story for the listener, but very good

I'd echo the comments of others on this thread, they've hit on some great stories. Some of my favorites (that are also pretty friendly to listeners who don't know much about Five)
Eye of The Scorpion Spare Parts Son of The Dragon Castle of Fear Cobwebs The Demons of Red Lodge and Other Stories

Yes, Son of the Dragon was a good one.
I liked Peri and the Piscon Paradox, mentioned above, too, but the Fifth Doctor isn't actually in it, he's just in the narration. It's a Companion Chronicle, so it's mostly Peri telling the story. Colin Baker makes an appearance as the Sixth Doctor in part of it.
