Far Cry Blood Dragon. Awesome. Yeah, I am in a silly mood. This is just some silly neon-coloured crazy fun, brain off, shotgun loaded.

Started up Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2. Played Part 1 back in March, and I figured I should crack on with this one before I forget everything about what's going on and how the battle system works. Unlike most sequels, it's more one game broken in half than a continuation after the fact.
Also working on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. I have not played an Assassin's Creed game since AC2, which was....11 years ago. Jeez. Having skipped Broho, Revelations, and AC3, I naturally have no idea what's going in the modern-day storyline. I appear to be a first-person mute wandering around the offices of a hipster game developer or something.
But the important part, the bulk of the game is being a godsdamn PIRATE and even if I don't know what's happening, I am having a whale of a time just sailing around and getting into naval fights and making my crew sing sea shanties I've collected.
Collectible sea shanties!!!

Firing up Star Trek Elite Force. After hours of trying I finally got it working, by getting a used copy of the CD German release, which was said on the internet that it would work. Even got it running in English with the original voices. I know that I played it a lot when it came out, it was a birthday present from my brother to me (since I was the biggest Voyager fan back then). But I cannot remember one bit about it. Looking forward to re-discovering it all. And maybe even try out the high resolution mods which are available on the web. Let me shoot some Borg!

Devil May Cry 3, which I have not played in many years and I am very bad at it. It's one of those challenging-but-rewarding combat systems, but for the life of me I've never been able to get the hang of it. I can be pretty decent at the first DMC, but 3 and I have just never gotten along. So I will plod forward with my un-stylish, workmanlike basic combos.
Also working on the Batman: Arkham series in chronological order leading up to Arkham Knight, which I have never played. So far I've beaten the "Initiation" DLC, showing Bruce's ninja training, and now I've moved on to the main game of Arkham Origins, set in a very snowy Gotham Christmas. It is getting very cold outside these days, so it's pretty appropriate.

Dead By Daylight
Not really a fan of how repetitive the gameplay can be (safe to say it’s a lot more fun playing as a killer) but it has its moments.
If anything, I think the lore behind it is much more fascinating mainly in seeing how the various Killers were created. Which I find is usually the case when it comes to these things.

Cuphead
They weren’t joking when they said this was a difficult game. Absolutely adore the visuals though.

It's taken many months of stopping and starting, but I've finally finished The Last of Us Part II on Grounded difficulty. I used the same technique I did for the first game - play through on Normal, the replay on each progressive level of difficulty so I know that game inside out - so you can understand why it's taken so long to get to the end of Grounded! Have to say, it was much easier to play Grounded in this game than the first. I found this one was extremely forgiving in comparison. The resources were scarce, but provided you know how to get around the levels without really needing to use them, it's not that hard to get through the game (I kept finding I didn't have space for more materials, though more ammo would have been appreciated at times ). It also seemed to autosave every 3-4 minutes, no matter what was going on. I remember the hospital sequence in the first game not having a single autosave point - if you messed up, it was straight back to the beginning. Here, all you have to do is get back into hiding after being detected and all your progress is kept. Made the game so much easier than it was probably meant to be. I do feel slightly ripped off that the trophy for completing the game on this difficulty was only a silver. It's a gold for completing the game on any difficulty, so this should at least have been gold too! I'm not too bitter though. When you finish it on Grounded, the song at the end of the credits is different to if you complete it on the lower levels - you get a full version of Joel singing Future Days. Call me soft, but listening to that made the entire effort of beating Grounded worth it Now, to try to get that perma-death trophy... I'll be "cheating" and doing this the easiest way possible - deaths take you back to the start of the current chapter, and I'll be playing on very easy The trophy's only bronze for completing the game with any perma-death setting though, so I'd don't feel bad about it!

Working through 10,000 Bullets with some difficulty. The game was released only in Japan and Europe, and being one of the first PS2 imports I ever bought, I bought the Japanese one. I wasn't certain my North American TV could handle PAL signals at the time, y'see. Turns out it can, but better safe than sorry.
Anyway, it's an action game with stylish gunplay in the John Woo mold and outrageous looking characters. Also a smooth jazz soundtrack. I don't know what's going on, but it appears to be set in Italy. It's difficult but rather fun. I'm surprised it wasn't released in Region 1 since it's exactly the kind of thing that was popular at the time. John Woo's own Stranglehold a few years later is rather similar.

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (2001)
I’ve played and completed this so many times that I think I might have the entire map memorised. It’s a bit repetitive in places I’ll grant you, but I think it’s still rather impressive that it has virtually no loading times.

Only thing I would change is perhaps have a bit more variety when it comes to the Zoomer. Bar one location it’s mostly just volcanic areas. I know child me was rather keen on having one going through Snowy Mountain but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. In fact I can distinctly remember being rather taken aback at the sudden dark tone the sequel had but I suppose it was a necessary evil for the series to evolve.

Jak II was darker, but it had more variety in using the zoomer at least. Snowy Mountain would have been nice, but you do get the bird-thing instead. :/ I don't know if turning into a GTA clone was necessary evolution. There's nothing wrong with simple platforming, and Ratchet and Sly sold just fine. I didn't mind it, but I also wouldn't have minded if they'd stuck closer to TPL. Really the cardinal sin of Jak II is just being unreasonably hard in certain places.

Really the cardinal sin of Jak II is just being unreasonably hard in certain places. Tell me about it. It made for quite the learning curve when I first played it. I’d almost argue that some of the missions didn’t even need to be that difficult (Such as the timed bomb disposal mission) but oh well. Thought the story was at least an improvement but I was never too keen on Dark Jak. Or at least what they did with him. You rarely actually have to use him at all and there’s almost no point trying to upgrade him to be fully invulnerable as by the time you gather all the necessary items to achieve such a transformation, you’re already loaded to the teeth with a bunch of weapons. At least Daxter remains as annoyingly endearing as ever and I always preferred The Metalheads over the Lurkers as enemies. Even though a part of me wishes Gol and Maia made a return somewhere down the line. Being exposed to that much Dark Eco over the centuries must have changed them immensely I would have thought. Would have made for a far better antagonist for Jak III but that’s a gripe for another time. It does remind me actually of the time I once tried to figure out where certain landmarks from TPL would be in Jak II but I gave up after a while.

The two missions that I always dread (especially on Hero Mode) are the On-rails shooter section at the Drill Platform, where the enemies are so numerous and frantic that it's really easy to be overwhelmed, and the Amulet Recover mission at the Docks. The second one you can cheese by constantly punching your way out, but it's still pretty easy to screw up by falling off the edge and being insta-killed by the water drone.

It does remind me actually of the time I once tried to figure out where certain landmarks from TPL would be in Jak II but I gave up after a while. Yeah Dark Jack kinda sucks. As much as I don't care for Jak 3 all that much, Light Jak at least had platforming utility. Gol and Maia deserve a comeback for sure. I don't think we'll ever get it, sadly. Naughty Dog are too busy being snooty artistes these days for that kind of cartoony project. The Jak 1 > 2 > 3 geography is horribly inconsistent, so I'm not surprised you gave up. Certain landmarks are there, of course, but Haven City doesn't quite agree with Sandover Village, and doesn't quite match itself between games, either. I revisited the trilogy myself recently, and a few of the hell missions I dreaded went smoothly. The drill platform was actually okay. Only for me to fail several times at the Daxter whack-a-mole thingy. I think my most hated one of all was protecting the demolition team in the sewers. They'd always die on me.
