Games sadly got lazy nowadays where the next game changing RPG?

Yakuza 3 It's impressive how even by the third game, the series is starting to resemble the later games I enjoyed so much. It's nice finally being able to main-line the Dragon Fighting Style, after the other games treated it like a cool bonus, or omitted it completely. And it's got a damn good fishing mini-game.
Hollow Knight Guess I just couldn't stay away. Beat all the Bosses on Ascended difficulty, including the Radiance... eventually. Once again, my heart was practically beating out of my chest when I finally won. The only thing left to do now is beat all the bosses on Radiant (ie: One hit kill)... probably wise to call it quits there.

Been on an Old Republic era kick for....a month? Maybe two?
So, re-read the Tales of the Jedi comics, re-read the KOTOR comics, replayed Knights of the Old Republic, re-read the first half of the novel Revan, and currently re-playing Knights of the Old Republic II (+ Restored Content Mod).

I just wish they'd give us an update on the upcoming remake!

Empires of the Undergrowth. I got this during the Earth Day sale on Steam. Confession: Since my youth, I have been fascinated by ants. My first school science project was with ants. I had my own ant colonies as my first pets. My nickname in school was "ant". So I discovered this awesome game on Steam and have now been playing these last couple of days. It is amazing! You play as a science experiment ant queen (and colony) in a lab. You are experimented on and tormented by the scientists. The best part is the voice acting and the humour in it! The evil voice acting is awesome. But you also get nature documentary voice-overs for EVERYTHING you do. If you love ants, get this!!!

Horizon Forbidden West, a slow start but it picks up storywise & the combats more varied this time around, overall a enjoyable game.

I picked up Lego StarWars the Skywalker saga a few days ago and I've really been enjoying it. The game is just plain fun. While I find it a touch on the easy side (unsurprising, given the games main target audience), I can feel the influence of Mario Odyssey in it's collectables and it's a welcome addition. Flying and space battles are really fun too, which I wasn't expecting. I've started with episode I, but I'm really looking forward to Episode IV, I just love doing the Death Star trench run in games. By far the best lego game I've ever played. I'll be listening to a lot of Big Finish shooting for 100% completion

It really is a terrific game, I'm quite happy with it. And while that has been my daylight hours game, after dark I've been playing Alien: Isolation.

Playing Elden Ring, love it,i have already resigned myself to the fact that i will probably never finish it! But i am in no hurry.I am sure to get stuck by being unable to beat a main boss. Its an incredibly vast world lots to do.I am enjoying it so much,i am not sure i want to finish it anyway! I am not the greatest of gamers. So not really bothered, but its alot of fun.Lost count of the number of times i have died, but if at 1st you don't succeed, try, try again

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Sonic and Knuckles Played the first as Tails and the second as Knuckles. Despite theoretically only being about 2 hour long games, as a kid, they always felt impossibly difficult at a certain point.
I used save-states on both playthroughs. To be honest, I didn't need to for the lives exactly. I didn't die much. But the thing is, you don't get that same exponential feedback loop of frustration and tension when you know you can reload. That's what always got me. Once I started dying, it was just a downward cascade of getting in my own head.
The only thing that bugged me is that Tails didn't get a Super Form, and I didn't get to use Knuckles' Super Form against the last Boss.

after dark I've been playing Alien: Isolation. I'm getting a bit fed up with this one to be honest. It's a beautifully built game, they've captured the feel of the original film masterfully. I feel like I am in that world. The environments are spot-on perfection, the music is perfect, the lighting is exactly correct, it even has a faint grain in the air effect that keeps it from being pristine-looking. There's even terrific attention to detail like little personal touches on the abandoned desks--post-it notes stuck to monitors, little desk toys, that sort of thing. I feel like I can't even do justice how perfectly this game recaptures the original film. It's the gameplay / how the gameplay is constructed that's really wearing very thin. The game is punishing, and not in a fun way. Head around a corner without checking your motion tracker, you might run into a murderous android or the alien itself, and you're almost immediately [screw]ed. Which wouldn't be so terrible on its own, except that the game doesn't use a save-anywhere system, you have to use save stations...and the save stations are often way too far apart. I can't tell you how many times I've been playing for 30-60 minutes without seeing a save, gotten killed, and then had to do it all over again. Immensely frustrating. The game is also too long. Like, way too long. I'm up to the game's tenth chapter/mission and I feel like the game should've been over two or three missions ago. How many missions are in the game you ask? This game has eighteen bloody missions. It's an incredible recreation of the movie world, but I'm rapidly reaching the end of my rope. An incredible setting can only carry you so far when it's bogged down by poor gameplay design decisions. I don't want to bail on it quite yet, but I'm increasingly feeling like I'm just not going to finish it.

And THIS is why this game has been sitting in my Steam library since I bought it on a sale a year ago..... It might be a fantastic game. But I have seen play-thoughs. And I play games to relax. Not to become as frustrated as I do at work.

Yeah. If you're a big fan of the Alien universe--even just the first two films really--I'd say it's worth it to play it for a little while just to experience the world they built for this game. It really is an incredible piece of work, immersive as all get-out. But as someone who is now slogging his way through the game, it's hard for me to recommend to anyone that they actually play play it.

I loved Alien Isolation and it’s a stunning recreation of the films and their distinct vibe, but it does outstay its welcome in the end. A fine line between a game and an experience and I think it understandably leans into the former a little too much in the end. If it was made now for VR, it’d be much shorter and better for it.
I did really like the two pieces of DLC that recreate scenes from the film.
