Actually I think cell phones could make life more interesting. Make more race against time scenarios. And actually Barnabas was quite the renaissance man in the 1960s series. He taught a servant to read and write after all. He might take to them. And ultimately (although I'm sure through Julia's insistence) got electricty in the Old House. By Return To Collinwood, the Old House has a plasma telly, a jukie that Willie found on ebay and he's trying to install a jacuzzi. After being frozen in time for decades, it seems Collinsport caught up with pop culture sometime in the early 70s. Cody and Amy certainly know all about Wham and Space Invaders by '83. I wonder if Barnabas has any opinion on George Michael or ever heads down the chippy to play arcade machines?

No the jukebox he found on ebay. He had yet to install the plasma screen tv by the basement jacuzzi.
I think it's great they're sneaking in references, especially those that tie to the actors. Like references to Cagney and Lacey, being the show that John Karlen- Willie Loomis 2.0- went to be a part of after DS.

CELLPHONES for people who never locked their front door and Barnabas hosting a costume party and making people use the outhouse? Haha

The scene opens with music playing with a throbbing beat. Close up on Barnabas. The camera pulls back slowly revealing Barnabas sparkling with multicolored lights. Barnabas continues to sparkle in his white suit as the camera continues to pull back revealing the glittering disco ball hanging from the ceiling of the ballroom in the Old House. "This polyester is truly a most pathetic material for a suit," Barnabas tells Victoria. The costume ball has brought a large crowd into the Old House.
That's what my skeevy little mind comes up with when someone brings up 70's pop culture.
