"London, England, the 1890s. Queen Victoria, ruler of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Empress of India, has arrived for her annual inspection of the Torchwood Institute. This year, everyone is quite determined, nothing will go wrong." I hope someone points out to them there wouldn't be a Northern Ireland for another quarter-century

Those Victorian sideburns on Jack really don't look good

The Irish free state(later The Republic of Ireland) As it was 1st known, came into being in 1922. Good spot.

Loved Rowena reading the last BF part in-character. They should do that sort of thing much more instead of Nick doing his poshest voice on everything

Good! It's a very sensitive time period, best not to leave silly mistakes out there. It was fine on the trailer, must have been a mistake when writing the copy for the news story.

Such a brilliant idea and fantastic trailer. The conflict between Queen Victoria and Jack over their opposing views on Torchwood should allow for a lot of interesting scenes.

I hope someone points out to them there wouldn't be a Northern Ireland for another quarter-century That reminds of an amusing line in Gilbert & Sullivan's Utopia Ltd. (a rather pointed satire of Victorian England, in which an idyllic South-Pacific island becomes obsessed with Anglicization): My subjects all, it is your wish emphatic That all Utopia shall henceforth be modelled Upon that glorious country called Great Britain — To which some add — but others do not — Ireland.

Ohhhhh, Jack in sideburns. Nice. Oh, I disagree. I think it's awful. But I'm not the biggest fan of facial hair in general.

I haven't been listening to Torchwood (never could get into the TV series) but the fact that these take place in Victorian times does intrigue me a bit. I wonder if I am able to jump in at this point or if I have to go back.

I wonder if I am able to jump in at this point or if I have to go back. Only this one release is set back in Victorian times, due to Jack having lived through the era (we saw it on TV), I've got to think the others will all be 2000-post-Miracle Day. The audios so far have been pretty light on continuity. There's an arc, but it's really just been teased thus far - more like the Torchwood, Saxon or Bad Wolf name drops in the RTD years. We don't know yet if it'll carry over into Series 2 but if they're following the RTD model, it should/could come to a head in 1.6 and give a relatively fresh start to Series 2. Honestly, I've seen all of Torchwood mutiple times and the BF stuff is great, comporable to Children Of Earth - the peak of the show. BF's ones really explore the characters. The Ianto and Yyvonne ones were astonishingly good.

I'm not a fan of Jack with sideburns, I must say. Not a good look for him.
