Hey everyone,
I wonder what franchises Big Finish might tackle ten years on from now? Big Finish work from nostalgia and I could see series such as Beast Wars, Gargoyles fitting nicely within the remit of what Big Finish do (particularly since Disney have no intrest in doing a Gargoyles movie).

Well the franchise I would like to see them do would be Space 1999. Or UFO. or a crossover. Mind on overload about now with the possibilities.
That was a lot more than ten years ago, but I think nostalgia is more generational. The Prisoner and the Avengers were both a lot more than ten years old.

Ten years on from what, exactly? Sorry, it's meant to be ten years on from now Ahh I see. Isn't everything now already a remake of an old franchise?

True, but it doesn't mean there wouldn't be intrest and Big Finish's expansion into revival series territory can't but help but open such a market And Surrivors was remade.....and we all know how that turned out .

As Doctor Who is now canon in Dark Shadows (my thinking is Dorian Gray appeared in Dark Shadows, Dorian met Sherlock Holmes and Holmes has met The Doctor therefore The Doctor exists in the Dark Shadows umiverse) how's about a Seventh Doctor, story featuring the Leviathans set in Collinsport? Next thought - if Holmes is real in the Doctor Who universe then why is he fictional in Jago & Litefoot?

Nick's gone in for Gerry Anderson's 60s stuff already a few times, and Jason tried for Quatermass. If anything happens that either of those should become available, I'm sure BF will be all over them.
For me my dream range is Sexton Blake. Imagining what Scott Handcock and David Llewellyn could do with that gives me chills. On a similiar vein - if we can't have Sexton, give me Adam Adamant Lives!

Yes, I'm surprised he didn't go for some others after failing to get Thunderbirds.

Firefly. A number of the actors have done voice roles for animated projects so they're familiar with being in a sound recording studio. The only obstacles would be getting the US fans on board (the fact the US fanbase for Stargate didn't take to the audios was a big factor in that range not being too successful) and getting hold of the actors to record. The Blake's 7 audios have been successful and Firefly is like Blake's 7. And who wouldn't want to hear the Ballad of Serenity?

I can see a lot of fans being VERY happy about that, but I can't help but wonder if even they'll be enough. I can't speak for all of the people in the US, but I don't imagine very many of us even know what Big Finish is, much less even listen to audio dramas. And even then, is there a large enough audience to justify creating a range for it. Firefly's a good show, but its audience is probably more of a niche audience than we would like to admit. Then again, I reckon Firefly is a little more widely recognizable than a few of the other ranges Big Finish currently has, so it's perfectly plausible that this would work.

James Bond
Dickens Adaptations
I've only read the first book in the saga (and that was some time ago) but I'd love to hear The Hyperion Cantos adapted...and The Forever War as well...maybe create a new sci-fi (modern) classics range?
New Firefly stories on audio is a nice idea, but as relativetime mentioned I'm not sure audio drama is a popular enough format in the UK (and the license might be too expensive) I'd assume Joss Whedon and co would want to retain creative control (though he's probably moved on by this point) and i.m.o it would be better suited to comics/graphic novel/motion comics than audio.

Red Dwarf was on a list of possible Big Finish ranges in a survey they did a year or two ago. That would be good.
Nick Briggs apparently hates Red Dwarf so that is a massive block in the way of that ever happening.

James Bond is the first that comes to mind. I'd love to see Big Finish work their way through the novels.
Likewise with Dune. There's so much material there, they could be adapting for years.

I'd agree with Dune, but Big Finish seems to currently be doing ranges based on well-loved, old TV series or out-of-copyright books. Not sure it fits into either camp. Also, Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson are still releasing new books so how does that affect things?
If Big Finish does do it I'd like to see them also do the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

I don't think anyone can better the BBC adaptation of Tolkien's material, but Dune would be great. I think the reason Big Finish end up with the things they do is that they're available and cheap. Sadly Dune might possibly be the former but is unlikely to be the latter.

A little bit of crime or mystery or a new detective series would not go amiss now! not in ten years. (This was mentioned by Nick at some time?) How about some Edgar Wallace? He wrote some great stories set around the start of the last century up until his death in 1933.Real period pieces taking us back to the era of"its a fair cop guv"(mostly exploring Londons underworld of the time) and a welcome change from the usual BF audios.
