Thank you Trace you solved the mystery. I do love how Dorian decides to become a Mod for something so trivial. Nothing to do with music or style preference. And what a cool Vespa! Looking forward to your thoughts on the episode and anyone else who wants to join in before we move onto the next one.

Loved it! I had forgotten the grisly ending (and how did I EVER forget that??)
For the most part, it appears to be one of the comparatively few times in Dorian's long life that he's actually having fun! Not just giving in to the pleasures of the flesh (which is nothing new for him), but really enjoying himself! I love this era and Alex fits the time period effortlessly.
The "hexatronic" and the character of Otto (who I love!) are very esoteric. Once again, as in many Dorian stories, it's kinda hard to understand exactly WHAT they are, and what supernatural forces are at work here. No matter, because once again, this works for a Dorian Gray story.
Great music and songs! I'm glad we have some of that in the bonus material included with the series 1 & 2 box set.
I don't expect I'll be forgetting that ending again. On the contrary, it kept me awake last night and probably will tonight as well!

Not much to say about this that hasn't already been said, except to say I loved it. As well as being a fine story, it cleverly gives an undercurrent to the violence between the two factions that goes beyond the accepted belief of the day. The only downside for me is that Dorian was a mod and not a rocker . Cheers Tony

However maybe not a rocker exactly but you can have Dorian in leather. http://instagram.com/p/BDY4kuDtd7K

I just remember in A Hard Day's Night someone asks one of the Beatles "Are you a mod or a rocker?" And he replies: "I'm a mocker."

Kim, what is the photo from? It's really cool! He looks great! It's from his Instagram (if you click the picture it will take you right there) . He coincidentally posted it this weekend. But anyways Happy Monday time for one of my favorite series 2 stories Murder on 81st Street. Alex & Sarah have amazing chemistry here as Dorian & Dorothy Parker. This is one of the most fun stories in the range; another lovely story by David Llewellyn with one of my favorite monsters.

The funniest and most fun story in the range. One of my favorites. Massive cheer up for me. Will listen after class today.

Been waiting for this episode ha ha. Definitely one of the episodes that made me a fan of the Confessions range. Extremely memorable characters and touching story. Though I'd already guessed it, the reveal still punched a hole through my heart because the writing is just sooo good.

I love this story. Sarah Douglas is just fabulous as Dorothy Parker and Alex is as terrific as always. I agree with you, Kim. They have terrific chemistry. I find that I am disappointed with most Golem stories, however this one is really good.

Time to be unpopular . This one isn't my favourite to be honest (*ducks*). I didn't take to it the first time I heard it, not really sure why, just didn't. I've listened to it a few times now and while it's growing on me, I still find it ... unmemorable! I can't explain it. I like the Golem story, the chemistry between Alex and Sarah is great, the acting fine ... there's just something missing for me. I can't put my finger on it - perhaps (for me) this is one story that needs to be longer. I don't know ... Anyway out of the whole of series 1 & 2 (inc. specials), this is the only one that misfires for me - not bad going I suppose . Cheers Tony P.S. Is it safe to come out yet?

It's definitely the closest any Dorian story gets to fun and light hearted. There's no introspection for Dorian on the level of the other stories, no demons of a personal nature to wrestle with and Dorothy Parker is a delightful character. She and Dodo have great chemistry, and she never fails to get to the point. I look forward to hearing more of Dotty and Dodo in the final season, this time in Hollywood! It'll be a riot.

It's okay acousticwolf we still love you even though you are a heathen. info for series 5 from Nick Briggs/Scott Handcock podcast if any of you still haven't listened. And yes I am very much looking forward to more Dodo & Dotty shenanigans in series 5. Least of all because the setting is one of my favorites. And following David Llewellyn on twitter I know he knows his old Hollywood. So that makes me doubly excited. It will also probably be a nice breather before the last story which I am sure isn't going to be on the light and fun side.

I agree with most of the posters here (sorry acousticwolf , but yeah, we still love you!) To me this one is such a light-hearted (and fun) reprieve in the range. It's almost like it's purposefully placed there for a bit of comic relief in the midst of all the dark terror before and after! It still delivers the chills and thrills (with a really cool monster!) and "Dodo & Dottie" are quite the pair. I thought Sarah Douglas (wasn't she Ursa in Superman II?) and Alex played off each other so well. A couple of very gifted actors. The chemistry is amazing, and like the rest of you, I can't wait to have them together again in series 5. The fact that it's old Hollywood is all the better--that's one of my favorites too!

I finally listened and what a trip. I absolutely love this story for the barrel of fun it is. No ulterior motive, no unneeded darkness, just Dorian and Dorothy having a party of an adventure full of drinking and crazy stunts. It's hard to put what I love about this story into words even after I listen to it.

I wanted to say more about this story because I really do love it. But it is kind of hard to analyze because it's less introspective than the other stories. Interestingly that I love both this and Heart that Lives alone so much and they both use a similar format of adding someone else to narrate along with Dorian.
As for the story like This World Our Hell, it's extremely well researched. Many of the lines Dorothy Parker says in this story are things the real Dorothy Parker really said. For example The line about Katharine Hepburn lacking talent made me wince (because I love her) but the real Dorothy really said it. And she really did love her Whiskey Sour.
I also find it interesting that this story is set in 1939 (although it works very well with the Golem and the rising antisemitism of that period). because when I think of Dorothy Parker I think of the 1920's and the famous Algonquin Round Table. Although it does seem Dorian met Dorothy in that period. Great mental image: Dorian in a kimono with lipstick.
Of course it was obvious right away to me the monster was a Golem but they are one of my favorite monsters so I was happy to see one show up in Dorian. And I actually loved how the set up of how to defeat the Golem was shown in the beginning of the story "reality or death". Also I loved Alex's breathless reaction after the Golem throws him down.
An entertaining and fun little story showing that this range can be many different things.

I didn't know that line about Katherine Hepburn was real! How interesting! I think Dorothy was a pretty fascinating person and I'd love to know more about her--I'm sure there are a number of books and films about her, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
I like Golems also--there's also a fun Golem story in the early Dark Shadows comics from Gold Key.
And yeah, the mental image of Dorian in kimono and lipstick....so funny!!
Great fun story! It really does show just how versatile this range is!

I should get one of her quotable books but there are tons of her quotes online.

That line was really charming here! I just knew she was going to follow it up by saying that her Dodo was two out of three.
