"It’s great to have her returning to Big Finish, and, who knows, perhaps these great Short Trips readings will lead to Lucie making a full-cast return to us one day. There are, after all, many opportunities during her long story with the Eighth Doctor that give us a chance to revisit her era and insert new adventures."
Yes. Please.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
A good idea to account for Shredien Smith's avaliability would be an era spanning Eight box set.

I wonder if we'll hear a small brief cameo from Shredien in an upcoming Eighth Doctor box set (a flashback to an unseen adventure, perhaps)?

Now this is what the podcasts should be doing. Only one mention of the Prisoner to boot, so overall the best podcasts in ages and possibly the best since the sad passing of the Spraggster.

As that other cosmic Northerner would say: "Fantastic!"
This is no doubt the most exciting announcement of late.
Also, "Curse of the Fugue." Cool name.

OMG!!!!!! I can't even explain how happy I am about this! I'm still wishing for a new recording with Paul McGann, but I never thought we'd ever get Sheridan back again so I'm not complaining. Oh boy, I can't wait for this!!

Does anyone else find it rather odd that Lucie's return (which is incredibly welcome, because well, Lucie bleedin' Miller) is overshadowing the War Doctor release date announcement?
I understand having one over the other is going to annoy at least one group of fans (Big Finish care about the revival listeners, I didn't know when the War Doctor, etc) - but I'm suprised that the two announcements weren't merged as one news item. 'War Doctor returns on the 22nd and a beloved Eighth Doctor companion returns in May' etc that sort of thing which would be the best of both worlds and would work in Big Finish's favour (the revival audience has to be curious about Eight and his life before and Lucie was namechecked in The Night of The Doctor).

Merging them would habe been even worse. I can understand the fuss. We all knew War Doctor was going to be out some time between 15th and 29th, so confirmation it's the 22nd is the very definition of an "average" news story. The return of LM is a real bolt out of the blue surprise, likely only to be topped if Sheridan is cast as the next Doctor. Not a surprise it causes more discussion.

While it's a big fuss to us long-term Big Finish fans - it's still a very odd move with Big Finish introducing itself to a wider audience with the revival releases, particularly given how vague for newcommers the release date for Infernal Devices (the standard 31st February release date is no longer on the website) has been until this point. Personally, I would have held back on the announcement until after Infernal Devices was released and customers old and new alike were gearing up for Doom Coliation 2.

Well you are forgetting that Big Finish is at Gallifrey One. They wanted something big to announce to drum up excitement there. And from tweets it sounds like they have another announcement coming this weekend.

I hope this gives the Short Trips range a burst of interest. As my blog gets its name from her first story, you can imagine how pleased I was to hear this!

I am very pleased to see Sheridan back with Big Finish. I did wonder if she ever would.
I actually saw the announcement elsewhere on the web with said "Sheridan Smith and Paul McGann back together" which was misleading, but the fact she is still keen to return to the character must make the prospect a possibility.
Perhaps 2018 with be the year of revisitations for the Eight Doctor. Two boxsets of missing adventures would be very welcome.

I'd say with McGann's schedule that Big Finish will most likely probably going to keep things moving forward. It doesn't stop however having a 'period' adventure on a box set which pertains to the rest of the story, however.

This is good to hear. I know that Lucie Miller has been in the subscriber short trips recently but it's a different story to actually have Sheridan Smith recording them.
They really seem to have been trying to make the short trips more special lately. I'm glad.

Great news! The Short Trips range is perfect bite-sized Doctor Who, and Sheridan Smith reading some Lucie Miller stories is pretty much as good as it gets. So no complaints from me. I am looking forward to them already...
