Well that already ruint my week. Eve Myles, the latest to be p*ssed off by NetFlix? We feel your pain, dear!
Now getcher britches back in the studio, luv. There could be a TV show in this, lookee what happened to that guy Tennant. :-)
I wonder if full-cast audios would hold any interest for her? I always got such a strong sense of Torchwood being a team that I've really been wishing we could have the occasional full cast box set, as with the Dark Shadows range (okay, slightly more occasional)... especially lately with the other people that are returning to Torchwood roles for Big Finish - gang's all here... was...?

But Torchwood is still on Netflix... She's referring to Netlix as a studio more than as a distributor of old material - from her tweets, she's not happy that Netflix, or anyone, won't take a chance on a brand new "real" series of Torchwood so she's given up the character rather than go on just doing audio which isn't filling the gap for her.

Okay. But I don't think Netflix is the reason there are no more series of Torchwood.

Neither does anyone else here, but Eve seems to! Just the messenger here! Who knows, maybe there was talk of a revival at some stage that the public weren't privy to. It happened with Ripper Street. The BBC weren't happy with the cost and cancelled it. Amazon resurrected on the proviso the BBC show it a few months later and that model seems to be working. Or maybe she's just venting. Whatever the reasons, she's clearly not happy with Torchwood going on as a non-TV property with her involvement and from the way she's still retweeted some BF posts there doesn't seem to be any animosity or ill-will. She just wants a clean-break. All the best to her. She's a fine actor and I look forward to seeing her in more shows like Broadchurch where she was the best thing on screen this year.

I don't know... a part of me wonders if she was ever only going to do a few, just so she could close the book on the character? The series just... stopped, but at least now with More Than This, it's a bit more closure than we got on the show. I'm just glad she enjoyed it, hopefully BF will manage to persuade her to come back at some point.

Wow. She was never my favourite character (or actor), but to me, this really comes across as sour grapes. If this is how she carries on with her fans, it's no wonder networks/Netflix/etc. aren't interested in working with her.

I'm really sad about this. I actually sent my very first tweet back to her saying how much I love her BF audios. I have to say though, it's a little frustrating that she's so dismissive of the audio stories. I always had the impression that audio was generally regarded very favorably in the UK. I guess even there audio doesn't get a wide enough audience for her liking. It's a real shame.

Agreed, elkawho.
I'm disappointed that she is apparently leaving the character behind altogether. I was looking forward to more audios with her in them.

I hope this doesn't preclude Kai Owen from doing some Rhys audios in the future. He's a character who's situation I've always found interesting and I feel Rhys has stories yet to tell.

I don't actually follow the Torchwood audios...but even so this comes as quite a shock, I was under the impression John Barrowman was enjoying himself immensely returning to the part, and you would have thought the same would hold true for Eve Myles (especially considering audio drama is much more common in the UK than North America), but if she is struggling to adapt to the audio medium, or still holds out (false i.m.o) hope for a new Tv series it's understandable she would want to retire from the role...I was never a massive fan of Torchwood personally, but I wonder how B.F will move forward without their audience surrogate?
I wonder if the current limited cast format of the audios is partly to blame? I don't want to speak for her, but my impression is she misses the multi character team format of the TV show and/or RTD's input...it's a shame, but it's totally understandable.
Wasn't it mentioned in a issue of Vortex a few months ago that they had tentative/early plans for a post Miracle Day Series 5 in the works?

I don't see it as a huge blow to the range, a disappointment but just move forward. I think as long as barrowman stays the brand can carry on without too much problem, love or hate him he is Torchwoods "Doctor" clone ianto, find a few new members and rebuild, with barrowman's limited availability maybe he could be like a "Charlie" from Charlie's angles and be leader from afar. always leave the door open for old guard, Eve may have had enough today but maybe in a while she would like to return, but Gwen has maybe run out of places to go for now at least

I like the idea og off audio, Gwen restarts Torchwood with a new team, hands the reigns over to Jack and she walks away to try and have a normal life with Rhys. Kai Owen could appear now and again, if he wants (Depending on how long he stays in Hollyoaks lol).

She does get a fair bit of work on TV - just not as Gwen. So it's not remotely the case that people are uninterested in working with her.

I must admit as a fan I feel a little annoyance towards Eve around this, I actually have more respect for Ecclestones decision than this. Why? Well because Ecclestone stopped for his own reasons and who am I to question those? But Eve appears to be saying audio isn't good enough, which either makes her a snob or is her making decisions for me a fan. Now if she just doesn't like doing audio, fair enough, but not good enough?

That's surely "own reasons" as acceptable as any.
