4DA-The Crooked Man-John Dorney (Tom and Louise)
Taking a trip back in time... and how brilliant is the sound design and music in this by Jamie Robertson. Every relisten of an audio brings more and more things to the fore about how lovingly created they all are by all involved

I always find going away and coming back to a range or a set of stories refreshing for my imagination...so when I feel am not getting the enjoyment from something I leave it behind for a while ,over a months or two and then I find I want to return and on return I find little things I had missed first time around it might just be a snappy line of dialogue or sound design I was telling DOCTOR WHO recently that it took me four listens to DOOM COALITION 4 to work out that {Spoiler} Caleera was in fact the Red Lady
With Crooked Man I only just realised Laura (Sarah Smart) was in the Ganger episodes on Tv despite seeing her picture, she portrays a lot more depth in this story...is it the best story ever written, probably not but I do love Toms Portrayal of the Doctor,I like fun Tom and Jokey Tom But the best Tom is the more serious version(IMO) and this has serious TOm in spades

CC-3.1-Here There be Monsters-Andy Lane (Susan)
Am not sure what to expect from this but i like the synopsis of the story after the Ravenous sets-Monsters from Darker Dimensions,Punching holes in the universe. It starts well and already gives a good history of Susan who i always assumed later was in her first regeneration and answered any queries about Time Lord and Human biological compatibility.Interesting to note she allowed her husband to believe a lie about her all her life...well here goes.last audio in what’s been a very chilling and relaxing Sunday for me.Good Night Folks.

My house is having building work at the moment, so it is all fairly chaotic. I'm having an early night with 'Night Thoughts.'

The scene in the book shop where she's selling him the books at the start of the story is worth the price of the CD alone. I couldn't listen to that section on a loop and never tire of it.

Paternoster Gang 2: The Screaming Ceiling and Spring-Heeled Jack
Loved the Carnacki story, then back to London for the most 'typical' story of the set (alien up to something) and enjoyed that too. A fun volume and turning into another great spin-off series.

Yes interested in this as I just recently listened to the free Carnacki...would it be worth a series with this actor setting/set up mind you did he have to be in Doctor WHOS universe? Its crowded enough lol

Normally I get approx 2 hours listening time a day (either a single MR story or half a boxset). But due to a lot of chores and cleaning, I got a whopping 8 hours!
Missy: Relistening to it, I enjoyed it more thoroughly this time than the first. I still don't think it's as good as The War Master sets but....it's definitely better. Michelle Gomez is simply so delightful, and she just nails so many lines (and incidentally does better than in River Song where she lacked that manic edge to her accent). A part of me still can't help but feel she's slightly stifled by the fact she doesn't have as much reign to improvise in these scripts as she would in the TV series, but that's minor. I think the problem with Missy is...the stories are so incredibly eccentric and, well...bananas. With the War Master, you're chucking an evil psychopath inside regular stories. With Missy, you're chucking an eccentric character in a story that itself is eccentric (Mary Poppins story, weird crime show, comedy Monk farce). So I think it just lacks that edge. But there's certainly potential in the range and I can't wait for more. And the ending of Belly and the Beast itself makes me incredibly intrigued. There's so much potential in her story. I've always thought Missy has that edge to be just as bad as Jacobi. But whilst Jacobi can be nice enough that he can stroll in and people believe him, Missy's a wild card where even she doesn't know how insane she can go until the moment comes. But this is mostly pretentious rambling: Overall the set is fine, it just needs that bit more. Rather than having Missy as the explicit protagonist, perhaps view her from the perspective of other characters. Belly in the Beast had the right idea about it.
The Comic Adaptations: Simply brilliant. As well as being genuinely funny, the stories are simply so well done and Alan Barnes did a really good job adapting them and stretching them for two hours (as opposed to the 15 minutes it takes to read the whole story). On top of that, Tom Baker gives some of his best performances. Most of the time at BF he gives 95%. A great job but it's almost as if he's playing a BF version of his Doctor. But there's the ocassional story he gives it 110%, and he's brilliant and clearly has so much fun. This set is like that. The Iron Legion is so daft it's amazing, whilst The Star Beast has some beautiful acting (though I still think the story itself isn't particularly great, as great fun as Beep is). And Sharon was really good and I'd love to see Rhianne Starbuck back for a series of original stories, perhaps in the ludicrous style of the comics (though that wouldn't be until 2023). And I"d love to see more adaptations as well, perhaps Dogs of Doom and Dragon's Claw.

J&L 1.4 The Similarity Engine, I love the standoff in the morgue between Litefoot and Tulp, the latter played by Trevor Baxter. A slight nod to Rutger Hauer, a la Bladerunner, when he is describing the wonderous celestial sights he has witnessed.
And George Litefoot cool as a cucumber.

Another listen for the instant 3rd Doctor classic The Conquest of Far, and The Shadow Vortex and The Eternity Cage from War Doctor Vol 3. Great stuff all around, and quite the cliffhanger there.

BBC RADIO COLLECTION-THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMEN-Mervyn Haisman/Henry Lincoln
Ironically, it was the soundtracks of the BBC 'lost stories' that got me back into BF. I was aware of the company from DWM and had purchased some of the stories, but hadn't kept up with the range. However, I did get the BBC Soundtracks and listened to them whilst studying - when I finished these, BF ended up as the natural successor again.
