On the train back to London so thought I'd give 'Minuet in Hell' another go after some of the recent chat about it.
Edit: I quite enjoyed it but what do I know, I said the same about Winter for the Adept recently. Minuet gets a 5 out of 10.

Edit: I quite enjoyed it but what do I know Well, to be fair I guess I'm fond of enumerating its faults, but I've enjoyed it before myself. I mean, Eight Doctor and Brig story? I was absolutely riveted the first time I heard it just for that alone. Also to be fair, I don't suppose I should really be picking on Minuet in Hell over American accents, most American accents in Big Finish plays sound off to my ear but none are half as egregious as those in The Gunfighters, and I wouldn't complain about those. :-) Glad you enjoyed it. :-)

A few years after my first listen, it seems about time to revisit 'The Nowhere Place.' An interesting release that one. The first part on the spaceship is genuinely interesting and the claustrophobic and panicked crew come across well. Gets a bit strange when the Doctor and Evelyn end up on the train. The idea of trying to stop something from happening to change history has also been done several times before - smacks a bit of Sirens of Time there. Not awful but not amazing.

The first half of it was great. It was completely let down by the ending.

‘The Destroyers’ Listening to this you can very much tell that this was originally pitched to the American market. An interesting listen if a bit over the top at times. I did rather like the characters though and wouldn’t object to Mark Seven making a re appearance any time soon.

Listened to Exeter series 1 today. Wow, it's good. A veteran detective (Jeanne Tripplehorn) must face the errors of a past case when the woman she convicted of murder is exonerated after 10 years in prison. Our heroine struggles to keep the trust of her department as a series of grisly murders rock her decaying South Carolina town, which puts her at odds with her ambitious partner (Ray McKinnon) and the department at large. Exeter was created by Ronnie Gunter, written by Ronnie Gunter and George Ducker, and stars Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ray McKinnon. Only a six parter so about 3 hours, but it's really good. It's great to see some Hollywood writers and actors embracing scripted audio podcasts. Made by Sundance Now. Hope they create more podcasts. Series 2 is also available.

The Twilight Kingdom
Well that was alright. Very little seemed to actually happen, but unlike The Creed of the Kromon the actors at least seemed invested in the story. Not the worst story, but far from the best.

Doom Coalition S01E04 "The Satanic Mill". I got distracted by some people so I wasn't 100% listening the last 15-20 mins, will have to relisten again hopefully tonight.

‘The Fog Horn’ An old audio adaptation of the Ray Bradbury short story. Extremely haunting.

I'm having a couple of hours with my favourite Early Adventure 'The Bounty of Ceres.'
Minimalist, with retro sound effects and a self-contained mystery to be solved. Love it. Edit: and I've just noticed that 'Bounty' is spelt incorrectly on each of the discs, which reads 'Boutny'. Well I never....still love it!

Warzone/Conversion. Fun times! Ditto. Started just now and am going to do one episode per evening. Want to ration this one out rather than binge-listen (if that is a word). Enjoying what I've heard so far.

Waste of Nicholas Courtney and just found it a bit shouty and dreary. The name of the state still makes me laugh. I finished it and I do applaud Briggs for trying something different, but thought it was a bit of a poor end to an okish First Eighth Doctor Season. Was hard listening to this after, what I think, is an excellent Stones of Venice.
