Just finished 5th Doctor "Conflicts Of Interest" (Tegan was not a happy camper at the end- she once again got the short straw!) Just starting on 5th Doctor "In The Night" now and I will be completely up to date with 5th Doctor.

Ok.. I just finished 5th Doctor "In The Night".. 5th Doctor trying to do an Aussie accent- it wasn't too too bad.. Enjoyed the stories. I have done a slight detour.. I am now caught up with all 4th and 5th Doctor stories, I am going to go backwards and go through 3rd Doctor- I completed the collection last week and I have only heard 1 of the 12 boxsets.. Then I will go up to 6th Doctor, 7th and 8th..

Right.. I paused 3rd Doctor Vol 1 to smash through the latest 4th Doctor ( I preferred the 2nd story more than the 1st).. Now that I finished the last 50 mins of #3 Vol 1.. I am 5 minutes into 3rd Doctor Vol 2.

The Third Doctor Adventures: Revolution in Space
Enjoyed this as I've almost always enjoyed the 3DAs; authentic nostalgia and sometimes with a twist.
This time I thought the twist was 'What if it had been Sarah instead of Jo in a Malcolm Hulke space story'. It worked well but that's all I'll say here - spoilers!

Continuing with listening and reviewing random stories The only rule is that they all need to be new to me.
when I drawed "Time Lord Victorious: Short Trips: Master Thief / Lesser Evils" my expectations were high, and for nothing I had to repeat and hear the stories a few times to understand them "Master Thief" is a nice story overall. I still remember the plot after the third listening, and in the end, I got what the writer wanted and the characters. (6.43/10) on "Lesser Evils", I gave up after the fourth time try and went to Tardis wiki to understand the story (so no rating, but the reading revealed a cool concept).
"Rebecca's World - Journey to the Forbidden Planet" But it was fantastic. Something in the writing was really "right" in a sense, simple and charming. It is effortless to imagine it all, and the narrator, Paul Darrow, gave any character different interpretations (9.18/10)
The third was a box set, "The Comic Strip Adaptations Volume 1." I started with "Doctor Who and the Star Beast." I like that story. The Wrarth Warriors and Fudge are shining, and Tom is magnificent in that. It was also great to hear the host of Eurovision 1977 here Is it better than the RTD version? definitely (8.86/10)
Then comes the best story in that box set, "Doctor Who and the Iron Legion." The writing here was as clear and unique as "Rebecca's World." I saw that twist coming, but the journey and the setting were spot on. (9.59/10)
Then we also had "The Beautiful People" is a really solid one and worked very well (8.61/10)
"The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Back to Earth": "Station to Station" was the strongest by far It is probably in my top 10 ranking of Big Finish stories, and minor things keep it out of the top 5. It has a fantastic cast, too. I'm less of a fan of "The False Dimitry" and "Auld Lang Syne." The False Dimitry was OK overall, but there was a bit of a "what's going on here"? Some stood out, some not at all. (6.8/10) as for "Auld Lang Syne" well, I get why it is a fan favourite, and the cast is excellent, but it didn't click with me at all. (7.87/10).
The last two were "The Ark" and "The Churchill Years: The Oncoming Storm" The Ark in Space is a below-average TV story, in my opinion, and "The Ark" is a massive improvement does it need more drafts? Of course, it does, but I feel like it is almost there, and I enjoyed from that story a lot Christopher Naylor is fantastic as Harry, and I am looking forward to hearing more from Sadie Miller as I am not a fan of Sarah Jane Smith with The Fourth Doctor. (9/10)
The Churchill Years: The Oncoming Storm Goes straight to be my 2nd big finish favourite release after "O Tannenbaum." I was surprised at how great it was; everything was perfect, from the story to the cast. not a single note (10/10)
Next time: Part 1 The Paternoster Gang: Heritage 1 The Curse of the Daleks Dracula Bernice Summerfield: Birthright Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles Part 2 Time Lord Victorious: He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not Unbound: A Storm of Angels The Black Hole Missy Series 1 The Companion Chronicles: The Specials

After all this time, I'm listening to box-sets 5 & 6 of The Robots. For some reason, I never dived in at the time of release. And it's great. Very political, very complex, as befits an ongoing story so far on its journey, and very well played. I've also enjoyed much of Joe Kraemer's unique music and sound design (occasional comedy motifs excepted), so it'll be interested to see how Steve Foxon's take on such things turns out in the final set. Just finished Machines Like Us and am looking forward to what's to come. A lovely, enjoyable series set in a fascinating world to immerse my head in. Whatever took me so long to get back into it?

4DAs: Storm of the Sea Devils
50% as expected, but 50% not what I'd expected at all - and I thought it was much the better for it. Unusual story which made for a great listen and also for me the intro to Naomi (since I've not heard the stories with Seven yet) and 'welcome back Harry Sullivan!' I'm going to enjoy following their travels.

Lately I've been giving the first two War Master box sets a relisten. What IXm struck by is how much time this incarnation spends pretending to be other people. Every incarnation had a flair for the dramatic but this one especially enjoys subterfuge.
I also recently relistened to the first Roberts Master box set. Both incarnations are unmistakably evil but the Snake Master borders of animal like savagery.
