I'm not at all sure I agree to be honest. Post Wedding certainly, but I'm in the "no gap between Husbands and the Library"

I like the idea that it takes place pre 'Husbands' as her run in with Samuel West would explain why she didn't think Capaldi was the Doctor.

But her reason for thinking Sam West was the Doctor could be that she knows the Doc has a future past #11. She assumed he was all out of faces in Husbands. Also she has a screwdriver in a couple stories.

She has the screwdriver (even though she also still has the trowel) and she mentioned "the magician" as one of the Doctors, so it has to be post-Husbands. In Forst of the Dead, she described Darillium as "the last time I saw you, the real you, the future you I mean." That means that she could still have met past versions of him in between Husbands and Silence.

I seem to recall the transcript of Silence in the Library as being clear that going to the towers and getting "that" screwdriver was just beforehand. I think BF are deliberately keeping it vague so people can place them wherever they prefer.

My brain is a bit hazy on River's chronology (I haven't listened to/watched some of the stories for a while) but could Husbands be between Diary and Doom Coalition? Isn't the magician reference in The Sonomancer? To me that suggests that is post-Husbands. Does she have the screwdriver in Diary or could that be pre-Husbands? (If not a different screwdriver...)

No, because after she asked if it was the magician, Helen pointed out the picture of the Eighth Doctor, and River was shocked that it was before Ten. She was expecting Ten, Eleven, or Twelve. The scene in Silence just makes it clear that Darillium was the last time River saw "her" Doctor.

As much as a thrill it is to see River meet the original Doctors (and it is a nice vehicle to lead customers to Big Finish original series ranges), I'm hoping the third box set won't feature The Doctor at all. I'm in for this series to see River on her own.

It would be cool if she popped up in the Main Range.

What hat about the others? first would be the Grandfather, five the cricketer, eight the poet, War (durr..) the warrior, nine? U-Boat captain? Would two be the Hobo (cosmic or otherwise). Four could be Montmartre

As much as a thrill it is to see River meet the original Doctors (and it is a nice vehicle to lead customers to Big Finish original series ranges), I'm hoping the third box set won't feature The Doctor at all. I'm in for this series to see River on her own. I'm probably in general agreement with this, since I think it was just about as exciting in Doom Coalition 3 for River to have a clear sense of purpose as it was for her to be more interactive with The Doctor and his companions. It's sometimes one of my axes to grind with the New Series that somehow they've left her seeming like sort of a flag in the wind outside of her relationship with The Doctor, maybe to the point that it made it difficult for Diary of River Song 1 to have a direction to pick up and carry, although I think it was a good move to lead the set with her as archaeologist. I especially like everything Big Finish has done with her after Diary 1 and I'm pretty sure they've got the right idea so far. I'd probably think a lot of a story where she has to put down some classic monsters she unearthed on a dig so she has the chance to assert herself as both scholar and some sort of counterpart to The Doctor who's fully capable of taking charge of situations, and I wouldn't mind in the least if Bernice were an influence on River's direction by way of crossing paths. I'm not adamant that River should be an archaeologist as her strong suit, but it is a direction that seems to have been much referenced so I think it does tend to seem rather natural for her.

2.1 The Unknown by Guy Adams
A planetary anomaly. A scientific impossibility. A mystery to be solved. Of course, River Song expects to be consulted. She expects her valuable knowledge and experience will help the crew of the Saturnius unlock the strange phenomenon that has appeared in Earth’s solar system. But what River doesn't expect is a stowaway. An infuriating little man, calling himself the Doctor.
a wee bit of bus travel after being in the tombs of Telos time for a bit less claustrophobia. This was Rivers second set and meeting with the 6th and 7th Doctors i must admit do not remember much đŸ˜‚ time to refresh the old brain cells

2.2 Five Twenty-Nine by John Dorney
River has made a terrible discovery. Billions of lives hang in the balance. But if she can save just a few, then it might just help her solve the conundrum of Earth’s destruction. But how can she win when survival becomes a race against time itself? A race against Five Twenty-Nine?
When you have an interesting script (Mr Dorney) and some top class actors magic does occur...enough saidđŸ˜‚

2.3 World Enough and Time by James Goss
When it comes to bringing down corrupt and exploitative regimes, there is no-one quite like River. Until she arrives at Golden Futures and discovers that someone else has already taken on her job. Someone with almost as much style and panache as herself. The Doctor is about to get the shock of his lives.
I liked the idea of this story but something just kind of tells me that The Doctor is just a little out of character ok you can get away with it because of the nature of the story.it is definitely a wee nag just a wee one...and the main villains of the peace somehow i preferred those form box set one.But decent enough tale but not the best of Goss who is one of BFs top writers at times

2.4 The Eye of the Storm by Matt Fitton
The Great Storm of 1703 approaches. The fate of planet Earth hangs in the balance. The only person who can save it is the Doctor. Or River Song. Or quite possibly another Doctor. Or maybe this whole situation is their fault in the first place. Two Doctors. One River. An infinite number of ways to destroy the world. It’s going to be a bumpy ride…
Onto the final tale In the relisten actually John Dorney and Matt Fitton are the ones i most remember as i always like to go look at the history behind the history.from memory You have two Doctors attempting to decide how to deal with the shenanigans and River but is Rivers solution really the best solution?I do like the story though and the slice of history and the continued foe from previous story and there is fun stuff with River and Sixie. Its nice though sometimes just to forget all your previous misgivings and just enjoy the performances
