Star Trek : First Contact. That Ahab scene still brings chills for me

I've had a head cold these past three days. So naturally my movie choices on Christmas Day were Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas followed by Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange.

Chappie, watchable sci-fi mayhem. It was fun enough but I've not seen a movie in ages that was far, far too mature for kids and yet too immature for adults. A very uneasy mix of the uber-violence of Robocop and the whimsy and wonder of Short Circuit.

Saw snoopy and joy yesterday at the cinema.
Snoopy was fun and faithful version of the comic strip 3/5 would have went for 4 but was never a fan of the comic strip so didn't get the nostalgia for it fans would get.
I enjoyed joy. Good but not excellent. Even though 124 minutes it didn't drag. Jennifer Lawrence was good and will probably get nominated for an Oscar but I just don't see it being strong enough to win best actress. After the hype with her and Bradley cooper both being in it he was only in it for about 3 scenes 4/5

Yeah i agree I'm not really sure what market this film was aimed at, but it's one them films that keeps you watching.

Exodus God's & Kings, it was ok but lacked the drama & emotion which made me not care about the characters fates.
Hobbit Extended Cut, this extended cut improves the final movie in this trilogy & adds more gore to the battles, but also more emotion making you care more about the characters fates.

The missus and I have just watched the Hobbit trilogy back to back. There's so much I love about these films... And so much I despise lol.
Cheers

Had a new year's day trip to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens Enjoyed it, though I felt a bit confused as to the political status of the galaxy (trying to tell the difference between "the Republic" and "the Resistance" etc)

Jurassic Park. Still a classic and the special effects haven't aged a day. Can't say the same for the technology (interactive CD-ROM, touch screen, the GIF and a UNIX System).

Kingsman Secret Service
Worth watching
Colin Farrell and Mark Strong having great fun mimicking but being respectful of Bond and Q, Samuel L Jackson and Mark Hamil just hamming it up.

Saw 3 films at the cinema this week.
The Danish girl 3/5 good but too long. Eddie redmayne was good but Alicia vikander really was the glue that held the film together
Future shock: history of 2000ad 4/5 I know very little of 2000ad but this interesting documentary movie filled me in on the history
Daddy's home: 2/5: couple of funny moments but not hilarious. I honestly found the kids funnier than the 2 male leads
