Well... Not sure, honestly. Chibnall's work on Doctor Who has been pretty consistently good. Not great, but far from bad. His Torchwood stories varied, but from what I can tell, he seems greatly influenced by the Pertwee era (though one could argue all of New Who has been inspired by the seventh to eleventh seasons). As a lot of people pointed out already, I'm putting my bets on Silurians and UNIT. I have no idea what direction he'll take Gallifrey-based stories, but I can't see why we wouldn't see more stories set around Gallifrey. I think we may have a few stories based around the Doctor doing a mission for the Time Lords or perhaps an entire story arc dedicated to performing some action for Gallifrey. That's all assuming Moffat doesn't have something similar in mind for Series 10. Otherwise, I have no real idea where Series 11 will take us. I'm just hopeful Capaldi will decide to stay for just one more series and that we won't get ANOTHER Christmas regeneration. I think the Doctor and the Time Lords are too pissed off at eachother right now for the Doctor to be doing missions for them. I wouldn't be surprised if Rassilon and the high council are out for revenge now. That would be interesting. I could see Moffat using that idea for his very last episode.

I find it odd that Chibnall has never written for Capaldi. If Chibnall wants series 11 to be with Capaldi, he has to write for series 10. So, the fans at least get a glimpes of what series 11 could be like. If he doesn't write for series 10, I'd be saying cheerio to Capaldi. Why would someone who was about to take over the show give away one of his quality ideas in order to write for the final season of the outgoing show runner, though? Any really good ideas are in his own best interest to keep to himself, so he can maximise the impact his own first series makes, and any ideas that are anything less than that would likely only get judged and scrutinised extra harshly, and risk putting a bit of a cloud over him taking over in some people's minds. Just seems like a no win proposition, to me. Call me crazy, but it seems like the smartest thing he can do, regardless of whether he is keeping Capaldi or not (and personally I hope he does, at least for a bit), is for him to just continually beaver away behind the scenes and work on making his debut series as show runner as good as he can possibly make it. After all, this is probably the longest he'll ever have to work on polishing scripts and ideas for a new season, so best to take full advantage of that luxury while he still has it, I'd say. As for what his era of the show will be like, I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure it will feel different and distinct. And the idea of that sounds pretty good to me, right now.

As would I, obviously, but I'd still imagine him keeping them for his own run (which is going to require a constant stream of story ideas), and not throwing any of the better ones away on somebody else's last series would be the smart way to go.
But to each their own.

The characterisation could be off.

Moffat wrote for RTD. Moffat didn't write for the current Doctor of the time as the main Doctor of his era.

The characterisation could be off. I don't think that's an issue, I felt the characterisation was off in Series 9. It would be good to see Chib do something in Series 10 to lay down some breadcrumbs, but I think Moffat will have his own agenda for Series 10 so it's not likely to happen.

Maybe Chibnall will do something in season 10 that sets up whatever arc he has planned in season 11. Sort of like Moffat introducing River in RTD's last season (although Moffat wouldn't have known he was taking over at the time). Otherwise, I doubt Chibnall will do anything until Moffat leaves.

Are DW fans and showrunners so narrow minded and egotistical, that if Chibnall has the best ever DW script in a drawer at home, Chibnall or fans wouldn't want Moffat to produce it? Even, if it was a standalone and had nothing to do with series 11? Do showrunners have so few ideas, they don't want anyone else to get credit? Cause, thats the impression this thread is giving!

One thing that simply has to happen: bringing back Captain Jack!

Its rare for a companion to return this long after they left. If they ever make a fifth season of Torchwood (which seems unlikely) he will return their, but otherwise at least we still have him at BF.

The only impression I'm getting is that people whose fall back position in any discussion is to insult other fans by calling them narrow minded and egotistical, just because they dare to have a different opinion and state as much, could probably benefit by having a long hard look at themselves in a mirror once in a while. But maybe that's just me. Oh well, time to walk away.

I disagree, I think Captain Jack could fit into any era and should be treated as the new series Brigadier. It's ridiculous that Moffat hasn't brought him back in his era and doesn't look like he's going to for this year's Christmas Special. Yes, he tried to get him in A Good Man Goes To War but if at first you don't succeed, you should try and try again until you do.

Not sure I have any predictions, but I do hope he makes an effort to move away from forcing plot arcs into every season and all the companion home life stuff.
