I just spent the past few hours doing as much research on Trump's Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch as I could and speaking as a liberal who is still incensed that McConnell and the GOP Senate quite literally stole this selection from Obama, well, I don't think this is an awful pick. In fact if I were advising Senate Democrats, I would say confirm him and consider themselves lucky. Yes he is way, way, way to the right on female reproductive rights but on several key areas he may well be to the left of Merrick Garland.

I predict Trump will screw this up. Twice as many solar jobs as coal jobs and an average hourly rate of $25.00/hr plus change. Good for the planet we are leaving to our children and good for our national defense.

***** Moderation *****Guys and Gals, we currently have a few threads that are hotbeds of controversy and by their very nature, very emotive. Even though these threads are not about subjects this forum was created for, The Mod Team don't actually want to ban such topics from conversation as discussion is generally a good thing and can help us to understand different issues that affect different cultures and we are looking at the best way to allow them (but also stop them from spreading across the rest of the forum). However, the discussions have to remain polite and cannot descend into name calling, threats, abuse or bad behaviour. The Mod Team are spending far too much of our time having to move/delete posts and look at reported posts because of these threads. If it carries on we will have no choice but to ban the topics and take serious action against members who break the rules ( and those who sail close to breaking them without actually breaking them). Rules of the forum can be found here and before posting I urge everyone to re-read them. Remember, you don't actually have to break them fully to be disciplined and we are looking very closely at what happens in these threads. Remember the rules: Respect your fellow members. Refrain from making inflammatory or defamatory comments (including but not limited to: flaming, taunting, degrading comments, and general disrespect). No offensive posts, links, or images. Please do not post messages, images or links to content that is obscene, vulgar, pornographic, racist or likely to cause offenceHighly contentious discussions will not be allowed on the forum if they are offensive or if they generate too much work for the moderators. If something becomes too heated the thread may be closed, edited or even deleted. Our advice is don't get into arguments, if you feel yourself getting wound-up or in the middle of a heated conversation - walk away. You don't have to get the last word, if you think someone is trolling, report it to us and add the member to your ignore list but don't feed the trolls! This post will be copied into all of the political threads - there will be no more warnings! ***** End Moderation *****

I predict an 8 year Reign,,,i I i mean term... He's to stubborn to resign, and i don't see him being forced out, and depending on who runs against him in the primary's and general, he might surprise more than a few folks, depends on his follow thru to the promises...Only chance he's gone in less than 4 is dyin in office, assassination, or impeachment, and i just think he's to smart to be impeached, plus he has a republican controlled congress. So i really don't see impeachment, unless it's goin against a conservative congress.

So i really don't see impeachment, unless it's goin against a conservative congress. I don't think he will resign. As much as he seems to hate being president, he's too stubborn to admit it. Impeachment is more likely. He already is, arguably, in violation of the emoluments clause. The Republicans might decide that they are better off with Pence in charge. They have no particular loyalty to Trump, and plenty of them have already disagreed with him, even if they haven't yet had the backbone to stand up to him. He also might just die. He is 70 years old, and by all accounts doesn't eat well or exercise. The stress of the presidency often ages people a lot, and Trump might not be able to handle it.

I agree that the republicans don't have any loyalty to Trump, but they do worry about offending what base they have left. The only ones who I think might stand up to him, are ones like McCain who will probably die in office, and after 6 more years, he's gonna be like a gazillion years old(I do love the man, he's a hero of mine). So he don't have to worry bout re-election, but anyone of those republicans who want to be re-elected, wont have the backbone to stand up to him unless he does something way off the wall.

Trump is historically unpopular and incredibly unpredictable. Right now the Republicans are willing to play along with him, but they may eventually decide that it is not worth it. I'm not a fan of McCain, but he is a Republican who I respect. Had he beaten Obama in '08, I wouldn't have been happy, but I wouldn't be disgusted the way I am now. That being said, I did lose a lot of respect for him when he introduced the world to Sarah Palin.

Think about it though, if McCain had beat Obama, we wouldn't have Trump now, but we would have Palin as VP, with a man who makes Trump look pretty young. What really scares you worst?
This is a prediction thread, so I predict: If Trump is assassinated, the new Vice President of the United States will be female, and I might actually put a little money on Palin, if the odds were right in Vegas, say give me 100-1, or better, ill drop a C note.
I'm surprised that Palin isn't on Trump's nominee list.

I'm surprised that Palin isn't on Trump's nominee list. I'm glad that we got Obama instead of McCain for a whole lot of reasons. At this point, its not really worth speculating whether McCain would have survived his time in office, or who would have run in 2012 and 2016. I can't remember how it works. If Trump died, would Pence get to pick his VP, or would Ryan just become the vice president? Given that she resigned as governer and didn't run for president in 2012, I don't think Palin is actually interested in holding office anymore. I think she prefers to just try to get attention occassionally by having a stupid reality show and commenting on current events without having any actual responsibilities. In some ways, she is a lot smarter than Trump.

Ryan would only become President if both Trump and Pence died. If Trump dies or is impeached by the GOP Pence would then name his VP. I don't think a VP pick requires confirmation.
