I know money's tight. But do any of the folks who buy downloads given any thought to upgrading to buyin cds and sellin them. BF gives the download for free when you buy the CD.
It could help offset costs of buyin downloads. And I think it's a flaw in BFs business per say. Great for consumers but not great for the bottom line. I have a bunch of downloads available I'll never use, and didn't buy the CD for the free download anyway, though some folks might.
Just something I wondered bout.

The only BF titles I've bought on CD are ones that you cannot get as downloads. But I normally only do downloads, I think I have around 800 download titles right now. I kept waaaaiiitttiiiiinnnnngggg for the Benny series to be sold on d/l but finally bit the bullet and bought the whole CD series on a sale a while back.
As for selling my CDs, yeah I have thought about it from time to time, but the last time I SOLD anything on eBay was like 17 years ago... and not really wanting to get back into it now.

I go with the downloads both because they are cheaper, and because they are more convenient. I used to buy the CDs on Amazon before I got a BF account, and the CDs would go straight into storage once I ripped them onto my computer. Selling them but keeping the downloads seems unethical, if not illegal. Plus, I'm way too lazy to figure out the logistics of selling them.

Downloads give you more stories for your money. Upgrading to CDs to get a free download doesn't make any sense as it's way more expensive to get CDs sent overseas from BF for one, then on top of that you have loads of CDs cluttering up the place which then have to be disposed of at some stage. Buy a download and it's on your device in minutes and that's it. Cheaper and more conveniant. Downloads are the future.
(After saying that, I am currently a Doctor Who Main Range CD subscriber; but with the Dick Turpin DHL charges that BF don't seem to be interested in reducing by sendng international CDs by alternative/cheaper means, that CD subscription will not be renewed and my future Main Range purchases will become download only like everything else.)

I buy downloads because that is my preference of media.
I think BF giving their customers who purchase CD's separate rights to the downloads is a big business mistake. It's great they offer downloads to CD purchasers, but they should not (in my view) make the rights severable.
I occasionally buy CD's when they are priced exactly the same as downloads, as I feel as CD purchasers get more than download only purchasers, there should be a price differential, and when there isn't I feel ripped off.

I only buy CDs for favorite series/releases. Usually I am double dipping on these because I have previously bought the DL release.
I also have a couple CD only releases like Shada & the first season of Gallifrey (plan to puck up more of that at con)
But in general CDs are too expensive & I don't have the space for them.

I have no space for cd's, nor any desire to start buying any. I digitized my music collection years ago and got rid of all but a handful of signed albums I have.
As with others, most of the BF that I have on cd is only available in that format.

I used to get cd's but once they started giving us downloads my cd's remained unopened, so about 3 years ago I switched.
Selling CDs on is just too much trouble for me, and you often make next to nothing when you take off fees, postage expense & time.
I remember way back in about 2007 or 2008 I sold the main range bonus cryptobiosis for £15 but when I worked out how much cash I ended up with after costs it was less than half, and cost me more to buy it again once on general release.

I'm slowly moving to dl. There are some things I just want to physically own though. I was going to move my main range sub to dl after 200 but ... that didn't happen!

I am download only except for things that are unavailable as a download. There are just so many reasons why, but the main reason is that I don't want to pay the very large postage fees. And yes, space is an issue. I don't have any. I have no interest is selling things over the internet. I have bought a boxset or two, but I usually buy them at a con and already have a download.

I buy mostly download only mainly cause I can get so much more for my money, as the downloads are cheaper than the same story on CD. And even before they added the per order shipping fee, shipping fees raised the price of my CD purchase enough that I wasn't willing to pay that extra amount just to have a CD.
As others have said, I buy CDs mainly when that's the only way to get the story. And I rip the CDs to my computer and store the CDs.

It would be cheaper by far for me to buy CD's, sell them on and still have the download.
Firstly I can't be bothered with the hassle of running an Amazon store, and secondly I just think it's a little unfair to Big Finish.

See, that's what I'm sayin. I know there are at least a few folks, who buy the cd, get the download, and sell the cd, still shrinkwrapped. If you sell it for 10 and the download cost 20 while the cd cost 25, then you just knocked the download price down to 15. Makes sense to me. But it is bad business by BF, and It wouldn't affect me in the least if they changed it.

I think they are trying to give a cd purchaser all they can for their buck, but I don't think the download should come with the cd purchase. With the cd I get a case, cover art, the credits, usually a small booklet, that's all extra that downloads don't get, and I have it physically, and as a collector, that means a lot to me, and I'm never gonna use the downloads anyway. One way to fix the problem is to include a digital download number, so the cd has to be opened to get the download, just an idea.

One way to fix the problem is to include a digital download number, so the cd has to be opened to get the download, just an idea. So what if you live halfway across the world and need to wait weeks for the CD arrive just to get access to the download? Besides, it means more work when producing the physical product by putting the number in each individual case or box. Just because you don't use the download doesn't mean others don't. My geographic location means it can take several weeks for CDs to arrive, and my storage situation means the CDs I do own and have space for aren't automatically on tap (as in I need to work to get them out). I also don't want to have to purchase both the CD and download version in the event I don't have either but would like the CD. The download also offers an inexhaustible back-up, so if the CD gets lost, broken or otherwise in an unusable condition I can access the download version. Plus, if you do sell the CD on, you still have a completely legal digital download copy that you have continual access to as long as the Big Finish website is up and running.

In the case of Books Dvds Cds etc, once you have watched them,or read them,or listened to them, they just become clutter and gather dust, So its D.ls. for me, i am only really interested in the stories ,and of course its much cheaper.(And requires only space on a hard drive) No post and packaging, no extra stress or worry wondering if the package will arrive in one piece. For all you collectors and completists out there, i fully understand where you are coming from. And I guess it would be good to own at least one BF Boxset or a special edition, after all BF do produce some stunning editions of the aforementioned. I see nothing wrong with the BF policy of making a DL avaible in peoples accounts if they buy the physical CD, I think JB has summed that up pretty well.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Download only for me: the only CDs I've bought have been Luther Arkwright, The Maltese Penguin, B:7 Warship and B7: Rebellion Reborn. The Blake's 7s were my first purchases, the other two were because they weren't available on DL and I really wanted them. The postage for them (to Australia) was reasonable but a bit much. So I went download only: now a smallish bookcase of stories occupies only a part of my hard drive.

I only Get Downloads if they are only available that way. Like the Short Trips for example. But if the story came as a CD originally or was CD only, I get the CD
