Just a simple poll to discuss which story formats people prefer.

Personally I prefer:
A) The 4x1 hour boxset format of DE/DC etc as they are really good value, have a nice balance between stand alone stories and arc based content, and I like the epic mini series feel, the 4x1 hour storyline usually feels like the stories have been planned and written out very carefully to build up to an ending, I find some of the 45 minute or 2x25 minute stories in the EDA/FDA's to be a little rushed or building to a cliffhanger artificially out of tradition rather than for good pacing reasons.
and
B) The double disc 4x25/30 minute format can't be beaten i.m.o, lots of room to let the story and character develop and a good build up to cliffhangers.
I have a preference for physical media, but I have a mix of downloads and CD's in my BF account.

It depends on the story, I suppose. For the classic Doctors, I prefer their four-part stories. But I've also become rather fond of the boxset releases for the Eighth Doctor and the Classic Doctors, New Monsters series. And anytime we get a boxset with two four-part stories, I know I'm in for a treat. I really don't dislike any story format, I suppose, just as long as the story isn't negatively impacted by the length.

Well considering each format is used to it's maximum potential by BF, I'll just say I like all of them. Main Range's 4x25 format works for the stories they tell while the Eighth and War Doc's 1x4 and 1x3 boxsets make their arcs tight and on point. Fourth Doc's hour releases get the quick paced and fun monster of the week style down pat while the 6x25 Hinchcliffe stories get long and slow paced works of genius. And then moving into Terrahawks' 30x8 format is perfect for those style stories which would outstay their welcome if they lasted longer than that (My Enemy's Enemy being the exception to the rule as you couldn't tell that epic of a story in half an hour). However, the format I most prefer is boxset. Three or four good, tight stories that don't outstay their welcome like the occasional 4x25 does.

The Main Range 2 x CD four part stories are still my preferred format, but the three plus one part stories we got a few years ago were ok too. I find single disc stories tend to lack depth, but as always, there are one or two exceptions.

Hard to answer since it really depends, except that I would be happiest if everything was a full four-parter.
I want anything with standalone episodes, like 8DA used to be, and 4DA/MR are now, to be monthly releases. I want self-contained sets of stories to be box sets - it would be rather odd to have DC trickle out one episode per month.
I prefer downloads as they are cheaper.

I'm basically happy for stories to use the best format for the story, but I have a strong preference for 4 parters, because I always feel satisfied, satiated even by a good 4 parter, perhaps the format, perhaps the length, I'm not sure, but at the end of a 4 part story I feel immersed in the world of Who and satisfied by the unfolding drama in a way that shorter stories just don't do.

I think the different formats suit the different ranges pretty well at the moment. I like the 4x25 minute stories for the 5th/6th/7th Doctors, plus of course the Early Adventures and Third Doctor Adventures.
The Eighth Doctor and War Doctor are suited to the 60 minute stories in box sets. The stories for Dark Eyes/Doom Coalition for me are long 16 episode epics with individual stories in the middle, some more linked to the overall storyline than others, but all coverging towards the grand finale.
I just wish that the Fourth Doctor would move to 4x25 minute stories or even the boxset format with individual stories that contribute to a greater story arc (maybe this is where the Series 7 boxsets will be going). The 2x25 minute stories haven't really been doing it for me when compared to the Lost Stories boxset (haven't heard Phillip Hinchcliffe Presents yet) or the Novel Adaptations. It is mostly reduced to monster of the week style story telling with little real character development.
