Well, this is a different type of thread... but steelbook fetishes are the new rage I'm told, so I will enter in to the spirit of things. They are all lovely, apart from the dull silver Season Five ones, but I think the Power of the Daleks release is my favourite steelbook, closely followed by the 12th Doctor one. Gorgeous. But sorry DalekBuster, we can't ignore Mr Cushing and his cinema adventures with technicolour Daleks...

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a better Series 5 steelbook before long, with a similar design to the Series 1 and Series 9 ones.

There were also the Dalek Collection and the Cybermen Collection steelbooks, but I can't find similar images to dalekbuster523finish for either of them:

I've got hundreds of steelbooks from years of shopping with Play.Com (RIP), Zavvi and HMV. I think the Series 9 one is absolutely gorgeous. It's really one of the best I own, Who or not. I think Dalekbuster is right we'll see Series 2-8 in that style gradually. I won't be splashing out 35 quid for them though, I paid 125 when the 1-7 bluray box came out from the BBC Shop(also RIP) and that's plenty. Can't justify double dips just for the covers, as gorgeous as they may be if the Series 1 set is an indicator. I'd imagine Zavvi will do one of the TV Movie at some point too. Not a steel, but in Germany the TVM has been re-released as a Mediabook (digibook with a thicker spine and comes with both bluray and DVD). If you're a bluray buyer, and a serious collector, the German market puts out a LOT of great stuff. Attachment Deleted

If you're a bluray buyer, and a serious collector, the German market puts out a LOT of great stuff. Aye, the German market is the only place - outside of North America - to release the first season of The Walking Dead on DVD and Blu-Ray with uncut episodes. (And therefore carries an 18 rating.) The Fox UK broadcast versions had cuts, as did the physical media releases, which carried a 15 rating. So from a collectors pov, at least the Germans are doing it properly!

As with the 'Power' steelbook, the 1940s sunlight poster decor works really well with the Dalek design.

Wanted to get Power Steelbook but also wanted to get it signed by Anneke at Gally & it wouldn't have come in time so I opted for the regular North American DVD.

Does anyone have series 1 and 2 in the steelbook format? I'm looking to upgrade my series 1-9 to blu-ray from dvd (at some point) and curious if the content is the same as the standard Blu-Ray versions. While I love the artwork of the new ones, I can't really justify the cost if the only difference is the covers (and art cards). If however the content on the discs is different (more features, newly remastered etc), I'll have to start buying them before they go out of print.
Cheers
Tony

Thanks Davy, I thought they might be. Might see if I can pick up the standard versions cheaply (in my own time lol). Cheers Tony

I've treated myself to the Power of the Daleks, purely to get both colour and B&W versions of the story, and I didn't have the Cushing Movies on Blu-Ray so took advantage of a Zavvi sale a while back... but I have a hard time justifying the expense when I already have the other DVDs... they sure are pretty though!

Just pre-ordered the rather stunning Series 10 steelbook. The Series 9 one sold out before release so don't take too long with this one! Attachment Deleted
