I kind of always thought he had many of those adventures just between Rose turning him down and then dematerializing again. The photos she'd seen before were his way of proving to her the TARDIS can travel in time. Moffatt had causality work that way quite frequently, but "Rose" was in the Davies era, when effect followed cause. Those photos couldn't have been there unless the Doctor had already been there in his subjective timeline. No paradox needed. The tenth did the same with Martha.

And later with Rose, when he met her before she'd met Nine, and told her she was going to have a great year.

Nice cover. Not the best picture for Adam but I guess there isn't a great deal of choice for pictures of his character.

Interesting that Rose isn't depicted on the cover.

Interesting that Rose isn't depicted on the cover. Pretty sure there's nothing in it. It's just because Billie Piper isn't one of the guest cast.

I read somewhere that Piper had issues with her images being used in the expanded universe materials-apparently she asked the BBC to take Rose off the front covers of the six Series 1 tie in novels when they were reprinted, don't know if that is true. But as you say Piper hasn't been announced as one of the cast and BF probably don't want to get peoples hopes up (or perhaps leave a surprise-perhaps Rose is in one of the stories but voiced by one of the other actors).

Yeah, I read that too. She also refused for her likeness to be used for a comic (think it was the Titan Comics 9th Doctor mini-series). They couldn't use it on the cover but they were allowed to use Rose in the story.

I like the cover but I'm still not interested in this boxset....instead of Rose and Jack we have Adam and Jackie...nothing wrong with either character but it honestly seems a bit like scraping the bottom of the barrel just because you can do something don't mean you should honestly I sometimes feel BF release too much content, the reaction to these Chronicles boxsets has been quite mixed and I'd personally have been quite content for BF to wait a few years until more of the actors were willing or free to return to the role in full cast audios, this hybrid solution only points out that which is missing i.m.o, I'm worried that some newcomers to BF might be put off by the limited cast (and relatively high cost).
I'm glad the 9th Doctor is getting new stories and I'm sure some New Who fans are excited, but this isn't for me.

John Barrowman is already doing Torchwood and The Lives of Captain Jack for Big Finish alongside his US dramas. He probably wouldn't have the time for this as well. Noel Clarke is a very successful indie film director now. As for Billie Piper, if the rumours are true that she has recorded something with David Tennant she might always end up in the next Ninth Doctor Chronicles. I think Big Finish have probably done the best with the people and resources they have available.

Yeah that is a fair point (and I wouldn't want BF to create new companions with none of the main cast involved anyway) but I'm still uneasy with these chronicles releases, it just seems like recasting by stealth to plug a gap in the market rather than pushing the Doctors forward, I'd have actually been more excited by New Who short trips as they would have been nothing more than narrated short stories and probably more experimental, this hybrid solution tries to meet things in the middle and I'm not so sure it's going to be a hit.

It's to do with her previous career as a pop star. Her record label own her image rights so putting her on the cover, while not necessarily impossible, would have been difficult and probably very expensive.

Generally I have pre-ordered new series stuff instantly, but with these I am really torn as I think we have enough new series stories "without" the Doctor (as it were) and these stories could easily be adapted into existing ranges. Consequently, I haven't ordered them yet ... and still not sure whether to. Cheers Tony

I thought the cover could have been a lot better. 1 big blow up of 9, with 2 smaller pics of companions, the vortex behind them, with a planet and the Tardis, pretty generic. A step back IMO, something a high school Freshman could have done better with photoshop.
I would say I appreciate their effort, but, there just aint much effort there.
Do you think they were limited because it was the new series? Cause the covers to the 1st and 2nd doctors boxed sets look tons better than this one. And that's the only reason I can think of.

Fair play to BF for being up front and saying narrated by Nick Briggs as an outside voice, but because of it, its not a give it to me now range for me I'm afraid.
Great Cover as usual though.

I recall she did a separate deal for her likeness on Toys and books/comics though I think because she was a pop star she knew exactly what "use of image" meant and it turned out it could interpreted so that products carrying an image and performance could be treated as separate from products just carrying an image= 2 different sums of money that can be dealt as 2 separate contracts.
