That was a rather amusing title for a thread considering your username whiskeybrewer.

Don't want to start a new thread for which is essentially the same problem. I have given a lot of thought about how to work through the backlog that is Big Finish and so I have decided to go range by range and complete them one by one, while patrolling sales for the Main Range. So my question is, what range should I do first
A couple of things - Format isn't a problem, I enjoy full cast, audiobooks, narration etc as long as it is a good story - There are a few ranges I don't like. Iris, Terrahawks, Scarfyers, Prisoner, Vienna, Pathfinders, Sherlock(as of right now, so much different holmes adaptations that I'm following that I really don't want another right now), Avengers, Blake's 7 and Dan Dare - Try and use the range tabs as a guide to what range I should to next -I am a download costumer, but I will buy cd only ranges such as Benny

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am waiting for those to be on sale as they are way too overpriced for me when not on sale. Any other recommendations?

Wait for the sales.

A good tactic, especially as the first fifty releases are only 2.99 on download, so there's great value for money there. Also, if a MR release gets picked for a Listeners title - as they randomly do - that title then goes down to 2.99 for the month. Plus the various BF sales often include random MR titles, so getting Main Range stories for a bargain is a fairly easy way to build up a collection over time. Survivors is a good range to get, as there are only five box sets of those so far, with the sixth due next month. So that's an easy enough range to pick up and complete in a short space of time. Plus, it's a bloody brilliant range with some really great stories... and worth every penny IMO.

Fourth Doctor stories regularly get reduced as do boxsets.

Thank you very much for the tips. I will be patrolling the sales however, what I have been doing is using sale price main ranges to buy releases that would be too much other wise. For example, I bought Exotron to buy Jago and LItefoot Series 13 which gave me 6 hours of audio for 30$ which equals to 5$ per hour. This then allows me to get ranges that aren't on sale when I would like as they are then in my pricing range.
Also, @brians, are there any ranges that you can recommend as well?

Countermeasures is amazing You've listed a few ranges you like, but not what you do like, so it's hard to know what else to recommend.

Don't want to start a new thread for which is essentially the same problem. I have given a lot of thought about how to work through the backlog that is Big Finish and so I have decided to go range by range and complete them one by one, while patrolling sales for the Main Range. So my question is, what range should I do first Without knowing what you might have already listened to, it's hard to make strong suggestions, but any of the following ranges comes with a strong recommendation from me. Plus, each range is small enough to enjoy on its own, and some of them are already reduced in price. * Early Adventures (3 box sets, with 1 more coming) * Third Doctor Adventures (2 box sets, with 1 more coming) * UNIT (original series, with 5 releases + Dominion) - this one starts off weak but gets better and better * Novel adaptations (11 releases) * I, Davros (4 parts) * Doctor Who: Unbound (8 releases in the range) - this one led to the Benny - Unbound Universe set * Survivors (5 box sets, with more coming) - it helps to have seen at least a few of the original series, so that you know what characters look like, but it's not essential * The Omega Factor (2 box sets) - You need to watch the original series before starting to listen, but it had only 10 episodes, so that takes little time if you can locate it.

Okay, it was pointed out I didn't mention ranges I like and have so I will give a small list.
Unbound - Fun little sidesteps. The Omega Factor - Love it to bits, great horror series Anything Doctor Who(beside spin offs) I had yet to find a range that has put me off Jago and LItefoot - Just really quite fun stories.
Hope this list helps

I did pick up all the Countermeasures boxsets last summer, but I have only listened to the first boxset and didn't really like it. Does it get better.

I'd have recommended Sapphire & Steel once upon a time, but it's unfortunately gone the way of other expired licences. Shame. I'd recommend getting A Storm of Angels and Sympathy for the Devil for the Unbound series if you haven't already. The Benny Summerfield stories are absolutely charming, but have a few narrative gaps in them thanks to being a combination of audios and books. I, Davros is a must, I think. Even if it is a spin-off, it gives Davros a very thorough character study and they're very cheap to purchase as well. You get a real sense of Skaro during that war.

I would honestly recommend just waiting for sales and then diving into other ranges & the spin offs. That is how I started to venture beyond Doctor Who.

I'd honestly just go with your gut on the Doctor Who spin-offs. You can't really go wrong. Dalek Empire and Cyberman are both very good series, but very dark. The former feels a bit like Blake's 7 and the latter like The X-Files. If there are serious doubts going in, I'd recommend just buying the first story and seeing how it feels. The Summerfield stories have a great deal of range to them, some are really light like The Grel Escape while others like Absence are really grim. It's hard to think of a good entry point for Benny's stories... What got me into them was Timeless Passages, so maybe start there.

It looks like Benny and Survivors are getting mentioned with well regards so they may be my next up.
