My carer hasn't turned up today, I kept calling her, but her mobile was off, then like 20 minutes ago I get a call from the police.
She's been arrested and will contact me as soon as she can.
Right... so now what?
So I expect most if not all of you did not know that I had carers, but I need substantial help to live my day to day life, and this is worrying to say the least, I am at a real loss as what to do and feeling quite unnerved.
Just needed to say something to someone.

Can you contact the carer provider to send another or offer you any immediate help?
Thoughts with you ...
Tony

arh buddy......Its difficult I know
as a fulltime carer myself I understand how hard it is on both parties.
I would suggest you give your doctors a call, I am sure that they have plans to cover such eventualities to continue the care you need. I had to give my doctor a detailed plan of what I do, in case I am unable or hospitalised.
i hope everything goes ok, and this is little more than a misunderstanding.
we and i am sure i speak for most on here when i say we, are always here to listen and give well meant advice (often useless but well meant)
take care

Woosh. Do you have any family or someone to help you out while your care is sorted? Depending on what your health condition is, is there a charity that might be able to help, or at least have a help-line you can call?

Can you contact the carer provider to send another or offer you any immediate help? Thoughts with you ... Tony Care providers... yeah. No. I'm on a scheme called "Direct Payments" which means that in the legal sense I employ my own carers, I won't bore you with the pro's and con's of the scheme, but one of the cons is that there is no easily accessible backup. I do have another carer, but today she is on holiday right now. I could pull the "emergency" trigger, but I have no idea what happening yet, so setting things in motion like that could be premature and cause me a lot more grief than I need or want. I shall see, I live in a sheltered housing scheme, so there is a level of security in that. The whole things is just so totally left field and the timing is bad.

I don't anything about your situation so I'm not sure how much is relevant any of this is (and forgive me if I sound condescending - certainly not intended). First thing is to ensure you are in a safe environment (sounds like you have that) and have access to food/warmth. Second, make sure you have someone to call if you need to - you have that with the trigger ... not ideal, but it's there. Third, try not to panic about your carer - it could well be "something and nothing". Unfortunately you will have to wait and see ... and that's the difficulty. I would say if you haven't heard anything in a couple of hours try to contact her again (or the police). I'm sure if you explain your situation the police they will try to let you know what's happening (hopefully). Lastly, we are here so you have some contact if you need to have your mind occupied and most importantly if you feel it's necessary, hit your trigger. Hope it gets sorted soon. Best Wishes Tony

buddy....
dont leave it too long if you do need help, if you dont want to call an authority, call a friend or someone in your housing complex.
just make someone close by aware of the situation, if i could i would come and help you myself.
i am not sure of your needs but if your carer deals with any medication for you, you need to get someone to help.
lets be honest what ever has happened to your carer today, good or bad she i unlikely to feel like dealing with anything but her troubles.
keep checking in with us, just so we know you are ok. i am sure you are but we do worry you are part of our virtual family

oh yeah and call the police again, they have a duty of care too you. if i am correct you will be classed as a dependant of your carer and as the police have arrested her they will need to make sure you are safe at the very least, much like they do for a child under 12.
also as i said before make your doctors aware you have a problem,

OK, I should be good now, I've been in contact with my other carer and she's on her way home now anyway, so if nothings changed between now and 5pm she will come and see me then. Thanks for the help and support

Wow!
I honestly don't know what to say other than to reiterate what others have already said.
I pray that you don't suffer at all as a result of this and that you'll be able to get a replacement without any difficulties.

Glad you got through OK Jason, but don't be hesitant to push that button if anything like that happens again and you need someone to come ASAP.
