Are the silly voices they make with the Top of the Charts listings appealing to anyone? They are just way too over the top for me. Is it just me? I was going to make a comment about it on their FB page, but thought to ask here first.

I wrote in to the podcast to say how much I liked the segment, but it would be better without the silly voices.

I find the voices funny. Take them out and it's just Nick and Benji reading out a list of five releases. Dull.

I like them, but then I am old enough to remember Smashey and Nicey who they are (I think) meant to be parodying. So it is kind of nostalgic for me as well as funny

I don't think any of those skits hit my local PBS here in the States. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaQCr4PIsHEAnd of course, I never heard whoever Smashey and Nicey might have been parodying.

No way are the voices annoying or silly......they doing the standard uk chart voices parody.......smashy and nicey style which In turn are based on the real dj’s fluff freemen and Tony Blackburn who did the pop chart shows and retro chart shows........ Check out snashy and nicey for the parody of the dj’s or old episodes of pop pickers for their style of reading the charts....... but pleases don’t complain about something that’s 90% of the U.K. understand........ if if I remember correctly in days gone by the US used to have a equally strange chart voice person I think some one called Casey Cason? who did the silly voice of Scooby Doo?

Maybe 90% of the UK understand, but I didn't and I doubt most listeners outside the UK did either. That is one reason why I posted here. I had no reference to what were doing. Now I do. I do prefer the chart styles of Casey Kasem over the Smashy and Nicey style. Now that I have seen a video of Smashy and Nicey, at least I understand what they are doing.

I am all caught up on the podcasts and I have no idea what the fuss about the silly voices is about.

I largely gave up on the BF Podcast a while back, if it's got a topic I want to hear about I'll get it, but mostly decided to listen to whatever Canine and Chrome-Dome (Benji and Nick) titles that seemed to interest me. However, since you asked, I just went and tried to access the current BF podcast and... well I have always downloaded them (directly via provided link, not via shopping cart) and this one downloaded just fine for me. I'm listening to it now, it's fine.

It's not actually available yet, so I presume you've worked out how to find it sitting there on their website in secret. Any chance you could let the rest of us in on the secret?
