In the podcast, when they get to the randomoid selectotron and the choice is curtain call Nick calls it cutrain call by mistake and says that's what's in his script.
Question: how can the randomoid selectotron's choice be scripted in advance? Unless of course it is fixed ...

Or it could just be a bit of marketing hype to sell a specific story. But it's only a bit of harmless fun either way. It's not a Premium Bond draw!

I long ago expected there would come a point where "Ran" would reach a point of saturation/repetition. I stopped listening to the podcast many months ago, partly because I don't like listening to trailers (and bonus tracks BEFORE listening to the story) and partly because I knew the day would come when Ran would become problematic.

I stopped listening to the podcast like over half a year ago, but I seem to recall even then, when they would Push The Button, and mutter something along the lines of "uhh, try again"

Ran's definitely repeated itself. Plus, some of the choices hardly seem like the type where they'd go "Well we need to sell this one so let's put this on" when it comes to Short Trips and Dark Shadows stuff (which Nick is unfamiliar with) and early Main Range releases that are permanently cheap!

This week's podcast is now live. www.bigfinish.com/podcasts/v/2019-12-22-6th-and-12th-doctorsNick's questions "What is the main range?" and "what is main about it?" and comments about how "there is no logic" to there being a range that groups the 5th, 6th and 7th Doctors together is going to upset people on this forum. "Things will change, but we certainly will be releasing adventures every month". "There will be changes, but you'll always have monthly adventures of some kind, and we are certainly not planning on diminishing the number of adventures for each Doctor."
Personally, I think this sounds like a great move that is long overdue.

Queue the outrage :-)
Well i have always wondered this myself. Since Paul doesn't do 8th Main Range adventures, same with Tom. A bit of uniformity. As long as the same amount gets released every month there shouldn't be an issue.. Right?

Nick B was on a roll this week with the tagents! It would be nice to get some straighter answers on the MR subject though. So output won't drop too much (Good thing) in what form they'll come in from 2021 onwards ( we won't tell you) (got to keep it easy for new customers never mind the OGs) Really enjoyed Part 1 of Colin's Interview. I suspect the big change will happen in April 2021. The last "main range" release is currently listed as #275 in March 2021.

So I have about 15 months to finish off my BC Main Range collection before this happens.. Challenge accepted.

I thought this week's podcast was the best in a while. I've missed the interviews, so the conversation with Colin was great. And they actually gave us some interesting information regarding the Main Range. While I am one of those folks who is not looking forward to a change in the Main Range, for the first time I actually could see where Nick was coming from when explaining the need for a change. He's right, why do all the Doctors get their own ranges except for 5, 6 and 7 just because they were the ones who were there from the start? So while I'll miss the Main Range, I certainly understand why. And as long as they release a Doctor Who story every month, I'm happy. I just hope they don't all go to boxsets. That's my fear.

What I don't want is turning everything into box sets. I'd prefer to keep having a new four part story every month in the classic who format, not 1 hour episodes bundled together. If it's the same kind of releases, I don't much care what it's called anymore. Six of one, half dozen of the other. The time to keep the main range main has long passed.

It's hard for me to accept that the MR never made sense all this time, lol - I thought it made sense that because Subscribers Get More, people were being enticed via subscriptions to try out adventures with Doctors they're maybe not so fond of or trepidatious about (suppose you had only seen "ol' Sixie" on TV and didn't like the stories, and were worried the audios would be in the same vein, for example).
It's also hard for me to figure out what's going to be different from the quotes here, but I'm really hoping it's not a cutback on 2 hour stories, because (3DAs aside) boxsets seem very geared toward 1 hour stories, and I so look forward to a nice 2 hour full cast Doctor story every month (that's the main thing that's "main" about the MR for me).
Of course, if 5-7 get their own ranges and more Doctors get to have 2 hours stories in the MR, I don't suppose I'd complain about that?

Agreed- I often skip the podcast completely, except if there are trailers or previews I want to hear. I sometimes find their prattling and forced jokes just too awkward... but as soon as I read „Colin“ I switched it on. Could listen to Colin all day. And the info we got was definitely worth it. Jason already said at the convention that they were re-structuring, which is fair enough because Nick is right, „Main Range“ does not make much sense anymore. As long as we still get monthly adventures- and I do not mind too much if it is the first, second, third or sixth Doctor, as long as it is a good story. Maybe they will split up some of the box sets and have the single stories as monthlies? So ALL Doctors rotate along for the monthly stories? Would also make sense since we have to face the fact that the actors are not getting any younger and we might lose someone sooner or later, as sad as that may be.

I don't. They all get their own ranges apart from 5, 6 & 7 because somebody at BF thinks no other Doctor can be part of the Main Range! 8 was part of the Main Range and now we get these overlong pompous four box sets with him all the time that I think are just one reasonably good story stretched out to fill a set. So yeah, the Main Range didn't make sense to some people at BF because some people didn't really believe in it.
They can shove their box sets if that's the road they want to go down. I'd be happy to let my Main Range subscription lapse if monthly stories come to an end.
