Last weekend, Big Finish's Doctor Who, Dark Shadows and Torchwood ranges received some good news from the Scribe Awards nominations...
The Scribe Awards are awarded by the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers, and in last weekend's nominations for their 2017 Audio Category, it was Big Finish all the way with all four of the nominations.
We were hugely flattered to receive this news, and to celebrate we are making all four available at special offer prices until mid-day (UK time) on Monday:
Released in June last year, Doctor Who - The Companion Chronicles: The Second Doctor Volume 1 was nominated for its opening story, The Mouthless Dead, written by John Pritchard and starring Frazer Hines, Anneke Wills and Elliot Chapman as the Second Doctor, Jamie, Polly and Ben. The set is currently priced at £15.00 on Download and £17.50 for the 4-CD set, with its follow-up - Doctor Who - The Companion Chronicles: The First Doctor Volume 2 out next month:
Not one but two of our 2016 monthly Torchwood releases received nominations: firstly Torchwood - Uncanny Valley by David Llewellyn starring John Barrowman, who is joined in Torchwood - Broken by Gareth David-Lloyd in a story from original series writer Joseph Lidster. These two stories are now at offer prices of £6 on Download and £7.50 on CD each. The range has most recently seen Burn Gorman return to Torchwood with this week's Corpse Day:
The fourth title was last year's two-disc epic celebration of Dark Shadows' 50th Anniversary, Blood and Fire, written by Roy Gill and starring Lara Parker, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Andrew Collins, David Selby and Jerry Lacy (among a host of others). For this weekend, you can buy it for £6.50 on Download or £7.50 on CD. Big Finish's most recent Dark Shadows release was this week's Dark Shadows - Dreams of Long Ago, with Dark Shadows - The Tony and Cassandra Mysteries announced for October:
All four of our nominated titles are also available in special value Scribe Awards Nominees bundles for £30 on Download or £36 on CD. Any CD purchases unlocks a digital version, and any digital version can be played on the free Big Finish Listening app, for Android and Apple users.
These offers end at mid-day (UK time) on Monday 18th May

For once, I have none of the titles in this sale. So I will pick up the DS Blood & Fire release for my Friday night listening.

Gonna wait to see what tomorrow's tie-in sales are first, though am tempted by the Torchwood reductions. I have been meaning to get into the range (I haven't watched most of the original series, I was too young when it came out, I have seen the occasional episode since) and did enjoy The Conspiracy from the Christmas sales, so I might just give it a try.

Jeez, it's getting a little embarrassing how few sales I can take advantage of because I've already bought everything on offer!

Torchwood titles are still a bit too rich for my blood, even at this reduced price. I can understand why, with them being relatively new titles, but will be hanging fire for now.
That Dark Shadows title on the other hand... I must not get into new ranges...I must not get into new ranges...I must not...I must...

If I've only heard Bloodlust will I be able to understand Blood and Fire or is it best to listen to the other releases before?

Great news, for BF and for me - The Second Doctor Volume 1 CCs have been on my 'must buy' list for a while. Sometimes, not getting around to it is a good move... (I'd be hopeless on a judging panel, I'd want to nominate practically every BF story I've heard and then would be throwing awards around like confetti! )

Picked up the Second Doctor CC set, which I have had my eye on for a long time and was waiting for the next CC sale to get.
