I'm so excited to hear that Jacobi's War Master set is not a one off and that we'll be hearing more of his War Master!

Gallifrey is a strong contender for my second-favourite Big Finish range (behind Survivors), and everything about this release has only served to reinforce that faith. Romana/Leela/Narvin? Brax? Ace? The Master? All shepherded by Matt Fitton and Scott Handcock?! Oh my goodness, I want this release now!

I wonder if this will resolve the plot threads left over by Enemy Lines or if it's being treated as a whole new series. Either way I'm excited On the release’s actual page (the one where you buy it), the cast list includes Livia and Trave—who first appeared in Enemy Lines. To me that’s a pretty clear indicator that this is following on after EL. Not to mention that Brax is in this, after his rather ambiguous ending at the conclusion of Enemy Lines. Probably a safe bet that this release will address what happened there (or at least tantalize us with the mystery for a later release).

I suppose now that I know Derek Jacobi's in it, I'd better plan on buying this one as well at some point before February...
At the rate I'm going, I'll have run out of space on my laptop before the end of 2018.

Yes very excited...but also rather sad, BF had plans for more War Doctor audios and I feel sure they would have matched The War Doctor and War Master up together eventually, Hurt and Jacobi were old friends and had worked together it would have been fantastic to hear the two work together at BF. Perhaps they'll match Jacobi up with McGann instead, they could always use the old 8th Dr gets amnesia trick yet again...

Maybe he just naturally forgot meeting the Jacobi Master in his eighth body?

Would not the better out be the one BF has set up with the Time War box set? Temporal shifts writing and rewriting history & events? Honestly, the Time War becomes the biggest fix for continuity errors and flubs the show has even had.

You don't need a big explanation.

The Eleventh Doctor forgot meeting the Great Intelligence in The Snowmen. You don't need a big explanation. There's a difference between forgetting the disembodied entity he last faced in his second incarnation and meeting an entirely new incarnation of his best friend/enemy admist the biggest war in history. I think if they did it they'd have to include a memory reset of some description, though tbh I'm happy for them not to meet, gives the Time War a bigger sense of scale if they simply don't run into each other due to being at different parts of the War.

Not much of a difference if 8 were to only meet the Jacobi Master once.

I had sworn to myself that I was never going to buy another Gallifrey set. But Derek Jacoby/War Master! Damn you Big Finish!

To be fair ''I forgot'' or ''I got amnesia'' seems to happen every dozen or so 8th Doctor stories, it's his thing like the celery stick for the 5th Doctor, K9 for the 4th or bowties for the 11th, I don't think fans especially love this trope for the 8th Doctor but it's almost a recurring joke at this point...

Isn’t it more a trope from the BBC novels than anything Big Finish has produced?

Well off the top of my head he gets amnesia/mentally confused/looses his memory in: Zagreus Minuet in Hell Terra Firma Dark Eyes 4 Orbis Something Inside Mary's Story
etc

Interesting cover. But I quite like it!
Surprised that Romana, Leela and Ace still looks like their 70s/80s selves and why are Brax and the Master wearing ties?
Also Romana is wearing a Day of the Doctor-style robe. We have a load of Classic era characters deaaling with a very 'new series' event. Bring it on!
