Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell.
Another opera.
At least this time it was written in English. I still needed the lyrics up to follow along with.

Johann Pachelbel's “Canon in D major” (1694).
Perhaps my favorite composition so far, but is one song really an 'album'?

We're kicking off the 18th century 'albums' with and Toccata and Fugue for Organ in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, (1708).
Just like with Pachelbel's Canon, familiarity makes this a pleasant listen, and it at least has different movements and isn't just one song.

Water Music by George Friedrich Handel released 1717.
Not much to say about this one. I tend to like Handel's works, and enjoyed this well enough, but I wouldn't list it as a fav like some of his later stuff.

xPropaganda - The Heart is Strange.
Forty years after their wonderful synth-epic A Secret Wish, Claudia Brucken and Susanne Freytag team up with '80s producer Steve Lipson, stick an 'x' in front of their band name, and release this jazzy, stylish, cool-as-a-cucumber synth-epic. Beautiful it is. Classy too. It sold quite well too, which I hope means they'll team up for more soon, if they haven't already.

Had a double eBay Aust package delivery today. After 23 years from it's release I FINALLY found a near mint cd copy of the 2001 Judas Priest "Demolition" cd - Perfect timing as their new album is released today and is guaranteed to be top 10-20 around the world. Not bad for a 1960's traditional heavy metal band. 2nd cd from a Dutch death metal band, album #7 from 2011 - mint factory sealed. I even spoke to the leader, guitarists, vocalist of the band (which formed in 1986) and he confirmed the record label sucked because they stuffed up the promotion and marketing and actual distribution of the album.! They are locked in now in my 4 car garage Batcave in my backyard.

Bruce Dickinson - The Mandrake Project (very much the combination of sounds and writing from AOB, TCW and TOS)

I'm back at work so I'm restarting that 1000 best album marathon.
Yesterday was Johann Sebastian Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Violin (1720) and today is also Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (1721).
Nothing too special about either of these. I'm mean they're considered important for music history, but just listening to them they're pleasant background noise rather than anything profound, IMHO.

Very pleased to see album #19, "Invincible Shield" from the Legendary Judas Priest debuted in UK at #2. Not bad for a band that started in the very late 1960's..
I have been a fan of this band since the 1988 album "Ram It Down".. then a couple years later we got the beast that is "Painkiller"
I am still waiting for my deluxe hardcover version in the mail with the 3 extra songs.

Listened to another two Bach "albums"; Cello Suites and Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major.
My opinion of these are pretty much the same as the last two I listened too; nice background music but nothing special.

Next 'album' on the list was Handel's opera Julius Caesar in Egypt. This was better then some of the other operas on this list, if only because I found a modern English performance. I'm sorry, but being able to actually understand what is being sung does matter.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=o83uriMyqw8Just came home from seeing "Mortiis" live.. performing his 1st album from 1994 "Født til å herske" He started out as the bass player of 1 of the most influential Norwegian Black Metal bands- left and went solo basically creating "Dungeon Synth" or "Dark Dungeon Music".. All synthesizers.. 2nd tour of Australia in the last 4 years.. Just think of it as "Lord Of The Rings" music or background music when playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Now this was more like it. The list is starting to veer into more familiar territory. Today's album was The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Always a delight to listen to.
