Criticism level at Nick is mostly due to jealousy. It's not jealousy as much as it's him and a listener having different clashing ideas. Take Fate of Krelos/Return to Telos. There's merit in putting a later Doctor in an earlier adventure, but personally I didn't find any merit in his approach. As I said before, he's very passionate but there are time I feel his passion overtakes him. This was one of those times. It doesn't make him any less of a person and he's done more than I could ever do. I think any fan is somewhat jealous of Nick Briggs! Being able to write for and shape the world of Doctor Who, creating future past times. Working with so many talented people whilst being talented yourself..... I think we are all jealous deep down. And that jealousy can subconsciously colour our opinions. However I agree that we all have different ideas regarding stories and like Charley Pollard S2 I agree that Krelos/Telos is a case in point. Perhaps it is difficult for a Line Producer, like Scott Handcock or David Richardson to question the ideas of the Writer, Director and Executive Producer. But really only being able to think of two instances of Nick's stories where I am disappointed in the result is an incredible high hit rate for such a prolific writer. N.B. Nick Briggs is Not Bad !

While I am to some degree jealous I know that I would not, as I currently am, be able to do a tenth of what Nick does. I too was disappointed by Charlotte Pollard Series 2, especially after the long period since Series 1. The fact it ended on a cliffhanger, with Series 3 not yet announced, is something I find baffling. While Nick must be a Time Lord to get everything done (I do hope he spends quality time with his wife and son), he's still human and does have aspects of his personality I don't personally find appealing. Once again, his passion can be too much. The months leading up to the first volume of Prisoner stories was pretty much mostly hype from him on it in the podcast. I can appreciate he was promoting an upcoming product, but I thought it was overkill. Big Finish can and have promoted big releases without overdoing it.

Of course Nick's not bad, he loves Daleks... you can't get a much better trait in a person than that! I'm certainly not jealous of him though; anybody in charge of producing Doctor Who stories - in whatever medium - is in the firing line. It's a poisoned chalice where the good things are forgotten and the odd mis-step is made out to be the end of the world as we know it. So he can have it!

I love Nick. I've met him a few times at cons and he's hilarious. He also is happy to give you his time & talk with you about Big Finish.
He's a great ambassador for Doctor Who & Big Finish. Certainly Big Finish has flourished wonderfully under his watch. And while I don't love every story he's written some of his stories are definite masterpieces. My personal favorites are probably Lucie Miller & To the Death. Definitely one of the strongest Dalek stories & most emotional exits for a companion.
