In light of some of the nastiness Nick unfortunetly encounters from fandom, I thought it might be a nice idea to show our appreciation for the man behind The Daleks and Big Finish. From my own personal experience, Dark Eyes and UNIT: Dominion really helped me out in a rough time in my life. And in my eyes, Big Finish has only gone from strength to strength under his run

I like Nick. They say that there's never been a blacksmith in love with his anvil, but Nick has managed to keep up unflagging enthusiasm for Big Finish and the stories they tell. He's probably the best ambassador they've got.

Nick Briggs is the backbone of Big Finish & is a huge part of Doctor Who, sure there been a few clangers along the way but overall most of the releases under Nick have been of impeccable quality.
Long may he reign supreme.

He has a lot of passion for Doctor Who, Big Finish and the work he does. There are times it does run away with him but for the most part he's done a solid job.

I honestly feel that some of his scripts have been exemplory.
You know. If his war doctor stuff had rob sheer man's name on it.
Fandom wouldn't have been suprised.

To Nick's credit people are still asking about more Dalek Empire, and it's been years since anything new with that series. He can't have done too badly if listeners actively want more.

Nick Briggs has always been the right person to lead. His enthusiasm has never lessened over all these years. To have such a huge output of scripts where most hit the mark is an impressive achievement. I don't think Big Finish would be where it is now without him and his team.

Always eternally grateful Mr Briggs! I too have fallen on rough times in the past few years, and bed rest would have been just intolerable without these audios there to keep my mind occupied. So many thanks to Briggsy and the team for everything they have done.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. open-wide I flung the door!! I felt I had no choice! t`was Nicholas Briggs speaking in his best Big-Finish voice!! "We LOVE Storiessssssssssssssss"

His work in, around, before and outside of Big Finish is nothing short of incredible. He has written some of my favourite stories, played my favourite non-canon (well, we can quibble...) Doctor and when I think of the Daleks, I think of Nick Briggs before Terry Nation. I think that's truly exemplary.

Just take a moment to imagine life without Nick Briggs and the incredible team at Big Finish. 'Just imagine!' It hardly bears thinking about. As I write this, I'm listening to a Survivors story. Later today, I'm hoping to listen to Empire of the Racnoss. At the back of my mind is whether or not to preorder Torchwood: Aliens Among Us. Appreciation doesn't begin to cover it!

I have a feeling that in real life, he and I would butt heads pretty badly.
But.
It would be ludicrous to try to deny the man the credit he's due: whether in front of the mic or behind it, whether writing a script, doing sound design, or even just the managerial responsibilities of being the company's executive producer--Nick Briggs is a force to be reckoned with. He's immensely talented in many fields, and his passion for the work is evident in the tremendous quality underpinning every title released during his tenure. Even when we don't love one of their releases, it's impossible to ever accuse it of being halfassed if Nick was involved, his passion and drive ensure that it's been done to the best of everyone's abilities.
Big Finish and our fandom surrounding it are enriched by his involvement and direction, and I can't even fathom what will happen at the (hopefully long-distant) time when he decides to call it a day.

Nick? Are you posting under a different name? No? Really?
Really?

This is a nice thread. We don't appreciate him enough.
I remember a few years back when I learnt that Nick was setting up his own website, getting concerned if that meant he was leaving Big Finish! Thank heavens that didn't happen!
Criticism level at Nick is mostly due to jealousy.
(Over all the years the only real issue I have had with Nick is regarding the Charley Pollard spin-off, but I know that it is simply the case that his vision for the character and the series is vastly different to my own. You cannot please all of the listeners all of the time!)

Criticism level at Nick is mostly due to jealousy. It's not jealousy as much as it's him and a listener having different clashing ideas. Take Fate of Krelos/Return to Telos. There's merit in putting a later Doctor in an earlier adventure, but personally I didn't find any merit in his approach. As I said before, he's very passionate but there are time I feel his passion overtakes him. This was one of those times. It doesn't make him any less of a person and he's done more than I could ever do.

I'm not a fan of the Krelos/Telos pair or The Exxilons, but I don't begrudge him that childlike flight of fancy. It was probably a boyhood dream come true to be writing for the Fourth Doctor.
