mark687 Well, to be fair, those titles weren't actually there when I updated the thread - they've been added later I'd thought at the time that there weren't enough Cyberman titles, but I could only included what had been added to the list at the time.

I own both Cybermen series from their original release. How long/new/interesting is the special featurette that is included on the full set release?

I'm now having to juggle my finances for next payday (that's worrying), which means my Torchwood One preorder has been moved back to January (so far). So I can get 4 main range titles I've been after for awhile, saving me over £30 (and I can finally listen to the 2nd Klein trilogy) . Ordered: 146 Heroes of Sontar 176 Starlight Robbery 177 Daleks Among Us 203 Terror of the Sontarans Cheers Tony

Am going to order 'The Blue Tooth'. Haven't heard many of The Companion Chronicles, looking forward to getting re-acquainted with Liz Shaw (the wonderful and much missed Caroline John) and the 3rd Doctor.

Do you a full written list of all the rules of Updates Club? I'd love to read it A search for posts with the phrase "rule of Updates Club is" will grant this wish for fellow updaters... The Fourth Rule was never stated explictly, so for clarity: The Fourth rule of Updates Club is: if you can't find any new news, don't let that stop you posting old news as new if you think nobody will notice... Just for the avoidance of doubt, I'm not 'having a go' at any poster for their posting, Updates Club 'member' or otherwise. (Not now or ever.) It's all just my little joke about the fun side of the serious business of keeping those BF/Who updates coming ASAP, for which I now rely on DU like I imagine so many do. There, feel better now.

I know I said I did not want to buy anything else before Christmas... but Order of the Daleks has caught my interest for a while now (if only for the cool cover art) and I wanted to try out the War Doctor to see if I like it or not (I am not expecting too much from what I have heard). So I might as well taking the plunge. I knew I could not rely on my resolve...

Any thoughts / opinions on The First Doctor Volume One which is in the offer? Is it worth getting? Thanks. I remember enjoying it immensely, especially the two Steven stories! (You may want to have listened to a number of his other Companion Chronicles beforehand though, as there are several spoilers in these two stories). I think the bigger question is why this set is included in this sale at all? I can only imagine they meant to link in Volume 2 due to Across the Darkened City, but if it is a mistake they intend to correct later, I'd jump at this set while it's still on offer

If the sale image included in the promotional e-mail is anything to go by, expect these releases over the coming days:
Thin Ice, The First Sontarans, The Two Masters, The Harvest, and The Eternal Battle.

Tbf The War Doctor boxsets are really good, people just expected the doctor going all Rambo on some daleks where instead hes more doctor-y and people felt a bit disappointed.

Yeah, I might be exactly one of those "people". But we will see. It won't be the first time I am positively surprised by some things I bought and which I approached with low expectations (that is basically the story how I became a Whovian after all...).

Oh dont get me wrong, i was one of those people at first too 😂 but i eventually, with i think the help of something Dorney said, came around to the idea and found it much more sad for this doctor to be like the doctor yet still be outcast for one action. He still was the doctor even if he didnt think of himself in that name.

I think the War Doctor range is excellent. It’s got a mixture of the different aspects of the Time War - grounded, high concept, espionage and the casualties - and different types of stories within each of those. The War Doctor might not be exactly like what some want, or even expect, but he’s certainly darker and edgier than the Doctor on a usual day.
Sir John Hurt is obviously exceptional in them, and the great Jacqueline Pearce makes for an excellent foil as Cardinal Ollistra.
What I really like is it’s a substantial season for this incarnation, enough to give him an era at least, yet it barely scrapes the barrel of his long and tough tenure. And that’s exactly how it should be.

This is one of those sales where I usually have everything on offer in physical format, if not digitally. All in all, I think my wallet can rest easy this weekend.
